David J. Randall studied at Edinburgh and Princeton, subsequently serving as minister of Macduff Parish Church from 1971 to 2010. He has served the wider church in various capacities, including a term as convener of the Church of Scotland's Apologetics Committee (now 'Why Believe?'). He is now toon meer retired from full-rime pastoral ministry, and serves as chairman of the Solas Centre for Public Christianity. David is married to Nan and they live near Broughty Ferry, Scotland. toon minder

A very readable account of the departure of the Church of Scotland from Biblical Christianity, along with the departure of many ministers and churches from the denomination. Although it specifically recounts the story of the Church of Scotland, it depicts the slide into liberalism that many other denominations have taken or are in the process of taking. Unable to stay in a denomination that had begun accepting homosexuality in the ministry, the book describes in heart-wrenching detail the decisions of many evangelicals to either lead their congregations to other denominations, resign and leave their denominations, or stay in the church with the intention of fighting against the abandonment of God's Word. The issue of homosexuality is itself just a fruit of the much bigger issue of the relationship of the Bible to the church. Very readable and highly recommended.… (meer)
