In case the cover illustration provided fails to give the clue, I will say at the outset that this book is part of the ‘erotic literature’ genre, in particular that part which concerns erotic flagellation. Further subdivision of the genre allocates it to the flagellation of females by females, particularly involving young females, and in a school context. However, this context is broadened towards the end, and at one point an older female does find herself at the ‘receiving end’. In much of the genre the primary activity, in this case mostly involving canes, forms a stimulatory preliminary to more ‘conventional’ sexual acts. In this book the activity is primarily an ‘end’ in itself, although there are nonetheless many ‘inevitable consequences’, again mostly of the F/F variety. Descriptions tend to emphasize severity. I found the earlier part of the book rather repetitive, although admittedly such a ‘literary’ fault may be considered a virtue by many of the genre’s devotees. It does improve towards the end, as the cast of characters spreads away from the primary concentration on school scenarios. A useful book, although not really at the forefront of the genre… (meer)

This novel relates the experiences of three sisters, brought up by a Victorian clergyman under a strict disciplinary regime in which any shortcomings, real or perceived, are corrected severely by their guardian, mostly with a cane. They have been convinced that it is a woman’s lot to relieve men of any stiffness in their private parts that they happen to cause by their behaviour, usually by permitting access to their back passage, a measure which preserves their virginity. As their guardian’s taste for flogging and buggering his charges increases, he finds ways of increasing their humiliation and discomfort, such as in the construction of a flogging apparatus, and in the introduction of the girls to a select group of male friends, a judge, a doctor, and a bishop, who are invited to share in the girls’ punishments and buggery. Their education includes a visit to a women’s prison, where corporal punishment figures prominently.
When their guardian dies, following an over-enthusiastic emission into one of the girls’ fundaments, they re-evaluate their position, and (perhaps paradoxically) despite being left all of their guardian’s possessions, they conclude that they enjoy submission, even of the violent sort they have been subjected to. They experiment with self-imposed discipline, but eventually they consign their future to the judge who had been one of their guardian’s coterie of flagellators, giving him their income. The status quo is thus maintained, and their lot becomes more that of slavery even than before, access to their bodies being allowed to numbers of workers. Their virginities are eventually taken, and given the excess of the demands then made on their bodies they fall pregnant. This allows the judge to have them whipped in public and deported to Australia, where they appear to have ended their lives as prostitutes.
