I have seen there have been some bad comments in the reviews for this book about the emotional state of the heroine, it's true she isn't strong and she does show fear and cry but I feel sometimes in books the heroine seems to recover from the bad treatment from the so called hero really quickly, so I suppose it's hard to get the balance right.
In defense of this book it was refreshing to see a heroine who didn't forget the pain and disrespect caused by the so called hero just because he touched her or kissed her, like she couldn't help it, just had to give in to him. She had those feelings but also remembered how he really felt about her.
It took Isabelle a long time to overcome and trust Sebastian and their physical relationship was deeply affected by those feelings.
There is a greater plot underneath the initial marriage agreement.
He is not a cheater or unfaithful, though he does kiss another woman, his ex, but he does get called on it several times.
There is no jealous ex but instead difficulties within their extended family.
