This started out slow, and I wasn't sure I was going to like it, but by the halfway point, it picked up steam and became really thoughtful and engaging. I loved the revealed dimension between Loki and Thor and I loved the decision to not have Thor speak at all. Great stuff.

Title says it all - this seems to be a book in which Marvel's comic universe says last good bye to the Silver Surfer. I dont know if this means Silver Surfer did not show up in any of the follow up books but event seem to be rather very definite and dont leave much room for possible retcons.

We follow our hero from the moment when he comes head to head with notion of his mortality to him finally going back to his home-world of Zenn-La. And on this final journey we witness his love for all life, vast galaxies, Earth especially and its illogical human population. It is a touching story in which we see some of the major Marvel universe super heroes and villains saying final good-bye to Silver Surfer as a recognition of all his contributions to establishing peace among the stars.

Art is done by Esad Ribic and this means it is just stunning. I especially like illustrations depicting Silver Surfer roaming through the space and amazing galaxies.

Recommended to fans of Silver Surfer and SF adventure in general.

This ended the "Thor: God of Thunder " series quite well, leading us into the much beloved "The Mighty Thor Series" (where we see Jane Foster taking up Mjolnir). This was much better than Vol.3 which I found to be a little bit boring and to be lacking substance. In Vol.4, Thor is totally committed to safeguarding the Earth. This is the Thor I find most endearing.

In this collected story arc from “Thor God of Thunder,” readers slip from current times to the distant future in “The Last Days of Midgard.”In current times, Thor and SHIELD battle a corporate CEO with mystical powers who wishes to make a buck at the expense of the environment (I loved the political critique here). Writer Jason Aaron and a team of artists make the contemporary story fairly compelling. But it is the integration of the tale from the future where Aaron and the artists sing. The future, as grim as it is for the world, makes the entire collected storyline a joy. In the far-flung future, Earth is a barren ball orbiting the sun but old Thor, now a maimed old grandfather, cannot let the planet go. This is heartbreaking stuff. He is sworn to protect Earth even when its people, animals and plant-life are gone. But it still has its resources, which attract the starving devourer of worlds, Galactus. Yes, old Thor battles an emaciated Galactus for the fate of battered Midgard and in the end, Thor wins, only to rename parts of the Earth after close friends (such as "Steve" as in Captain America). I found vol. 4 to be emotionally resonant, action packed, funny, and touching, especially Thor's love for earth.

If only we mere mortals loved our planet the way some Gods do.

This book has some of the best prose of any GN I've ever read. And it's a by and large great story. The art is pretty great for the most part if you can ignore the fact that a lot of the characters have no eyelids and make blowjob face a lot and have very few other facial expressions. And the bulgy muscle veins. That's not a real thing (at least as depicted) and it just bothers me when I see it in comics.

Overall it's a great read. Don't read volume 2.

Thor is awesome, honestly didn't think I would like Thor before the movies and this series came out. He just seemed like a thick headed, Conan character and I usually like them smarter.

This series made me realize that sure, he still isn't the brightest tool in the shed but he isn't the stupid barbarian I thought he was. This book is the end of the God Slayer storyline, had plenty of action, great artwork, interesting goings-on, and oh the humor. Not saying this was over the top, it was kept appropriate but made me laugh.

Bottom line is don't count Thor out, this is a great series so far and should be given a chance. I can't wait to read the next story arc.

I had a glimpse of this world when I'd read Old Man Logan last year. It felt like a strange world, with the series diving deep within and showing Wolverine's struggle to fit in. I was awed by the different barons, especially the Hulk dominion.

Having read Secret Wars, I must say this was a great idea executed quite well. Although Doom is the antagonist in the story, he doesn't really feel like one. He did what he thought was best, though his being Doom is his ultimate downfall. This was very much a Mr. Fantastic vs. Doom storyline, but it never felt overbearing at any point.

I loved how they made use of the characters, especially Thanos, Spider-Men, and Dr. Strange. They work really well, pinging off each other with grace. I loved the cameos by certain characters ("I am Groot!") and how they fit into the story.

It was, overall, a great read with an interesting ending. I can't wait to see where they take it in the future.

I can't say I was terribly impressed by this one. It doesn't help that the artistic rendering of Loki was rather ugly and stereotypical "evil" and makes no sense for a proud trickster God who can also shift form. If this was supposed to make me feel bad for Loki, it didn't work as planned. Loki stans will like it, though.

A lot of fun in a bonkers, over-the-top way, and Ribic's art is growing on me as well.

Four stars verging on five. The art is back to being near perfect, and as crazy as the main plot line is, the ending is surprisingly moving and makes me curious about what's next for the cast. Not including the story where Thor actually loses Mjolnir is kind of a lame move though, Marvel.

Cool, in an over-the-top Heavy Metal kind of way. Jason Aaron and Esad Ribic are perfectly matched here. I just kind of wish there was more going on -- outside of a brief Iron Man cameo, there aren't a lot of other interesting characters here. A good start though!

The only Thor I read is when he is part of another team. I have not read many individual comics of Thor because the one I have were not the kind of stories I've liked, they've always bored me.

I've seen high praises for Aaron's run and to start here. I heard to start with reading this one, since it leads to some awesome stories in the future. I have not read that far, but if they are anything like this, I can't wait to read it.

In this Graphic Novel we see 3 POV from young Thor, present day Thor, and future Thor. All three Thors have encounters with a God Killer and we see the interactions they have with this being.

The story and art is amazing and I'm excited to read some more Thor. I've added his stuff to my list to read, which I've never done before.

This is the conclusion to the God Killer story line. You'll need to read Volume 1 to fully understand what is happening in this book.

In this book we have all three Thors from past, present, & future at the same place and time. This shows the showdown between them and the God Butcher.

The story and art is amazing and I loved how it ending. My favorite is the personalities of the Thors from different time periods and how they interact with each other.

I've never read individual Thor books, except for maybe certain events or it's attached to a Graphic Novel. Thor books have always bored me, but this book as changed my mind on Thor and I can't wait to read more on him. I've only known Thor when he is on a super hero team.

This is a fantastic start to the Aaron run series of Thor. I don't usually read Thor individual series, unless it's part of an event or attached to some other graphic novel. This book has changed my mind and I have added Thor books to my list to read.

This story was amazing and I loved the art. In the beginning we see 3 different POV of Thors from past, present, & future. We see how through the ages, they had interactions with the God Butcher. The story flows perfectly until it reaches the conclusion. I loved how it ended and can't wait to see how this event changed Thor, or if it even did.

I loved seeing the different personalities of the Thors and how they've grown with age.

This is a must read book, even if you've never read Thor before.
