This was a beautifully written book. I wasn't a fan of the beginning and almost gave up on it because I felt it might be a little stereotypical and I also didn't like some of the writing. But I persisted and am so glad I did. The author has an ability to paint a picture with her writing which allows you to close your eyes and see and hear the sounds of New Orleans. This book touched me because I think it did a good job portraying New Orleans during Katrina and what happened. I also love the ending of this book and the feelings it evoked. It is a beautifully written book about an amazing little boy in an amazing city. This was a fabulous book and I would recommend it to everyone.
