Jesse Damon was imprisoned when he was a minor because he took the rap for his brothers. They anticipated he’d get off because he was a minor, but when the charge became murder, Jesse was charged as an adult. Innocent and literally left holding the bag, he has paid 19 years of his life for a crime he didn’t commit. On parole as part of a work release program, Jesse wants to get on with his life, the one he was trying to live before his brothers roped him into their criminal plans. But the police have other ideas.

Working third shift at the steel mill, Jesse is harassed by a forklift driver while clocking in. Fortunately for him, the foreman assigns him to a high-profile spot on the assembly line, one he can’t leave unless someone else takes his place. During that shift, someone kills the forklift driver and Jesse, the convicted murderer, is the only person the police consider. Even though he has a sound alibi.

Jesse doesn’t want to make any trouble. He just wants to get on with his life, so he does what he’s learned in prison. Cooperate, but keep to yourself as much as possible. Because of his status, the bad guys aren’t afraid to approach him to pull him into their scheme, and that is what ultimately helps Jesse unintentionally steer the police in the right direction.

I’ll start by saying this isn’t the sort of book I would normally pick up and read, but when KM Rockwood asked me if I’d review it, I agreed. I like a well-told tale, and this story fits the bill. This is a book about crime, about dealing with prejudice and preconceived notions, and about persevering. Jesse’s characterization was riveting. I felt every frustration along with his carefully maintained “yes sir” attitude. He’s intensely aware of his precarious position on the “outside,” relishing every moment of monitored freedom, in spite of his lack of luxuries or amenities. Jesse lives a hard life, but he’s determined to overcome his challenges, and that’s what makes the story interesting. There was never a lag in the action, and Jesse’s hardened naiveté (how’s that for an oxymoron?) works beautifully.

Jesse Damon is a paroled convicted murderer who seems to be a magnet for trouble. Nicely written, this novel was fun and interesting to read with a character you wouldn’t hate to meet.

I received a copy of this book for an honest review

Jesse is no stranger to trouble. Seems like it follows him everywhere he goes. He has just been released from prison after serving time for a muder conviction. He is out on parole and is ready to start with a clean slate, but the odds just aren't in his favor. Jesse finds work at a factory working the night shift. He calls a one room apartment his home.

It seems that Jesse is trying his luck at a relationship with his sometimes girlfriend Kelly. He is a real written character that seems to really want to stay out of trouble, but there are a couple of detectives that have a fierce hate for him and are always lurking around waiting for him to mess up.

The first attempt of locking him back up is when Kelly is beaten, raped and left unconscious . She is taken to the hospital for medical treatment. The detectives find Jesse and arrest him for the crime. Jesse knows he didn't do it, because he hasn't been around her much , since her dad has been hanging around her house. Kelly's dad is not the best guy you want to be around. Jesses tries to stay clear of him because he is a known criminal and has ties to a biker gang.

The story is fast paced and does have some very interesting characters that Jesse encounters. One of my favorite parts of the book was the interaction between Jesse and an elderly patient in the hospital. The author did a great job of showing readers the soft, caring side of Jesse as he tries to comfort the elderly patient
.
Jesse has to prove his innocence of the rape of his girlfriend, but it seems the detectives are always ready with their handcuffs waiting to throw him back in jail. Can Jesse beat the charges against him? Will he be able to find out who really did the crime before he is locked up with no hope of seeing daylight?

This is the first book that I have read from the author . I am intrigued with the storyline and the author writes with a gritty style that compliments the book. Thank you for a book that is filled with twists, mysteries, assortment of characters , each with their own agendas scattered throughout the book and an ending that will have you on the edge of your seat. Buried Biker :Jesse Damon Crime Novel , #3 is one not to miss .
