Some books read just like a movie and this story did that for me. I thoroughly enjoyed my time in the 18th century in Northern England.

Vitoria Montgomery will go from a flourishing life with her father and thinking she has found the man for her to marry, to being ordered by the king into the hands of her cruel and scheming uncle, who is determined to take her inheritance and her title by marrying her off to someone he chooses. She watches her father die and her being taken away from her friends to her uncle's castle (prison).

But the man she has loved from a distance, even as a young child, Lord Colin McTavish, the Duke of Marlborough, will discover what has happened to Victoria and sets out to help her. This is where it gets interesting. Victoria escapes her uncle's castle and finds herself, disguised as a boy, working on the McTavish land. It gets really interesting as she trains (as a boy) with Lord Colin's warriors.

The whole story was enjoyable to read all the way through. The author kept the story moving and a lot happens in this book that keeps and holds your interest, waiting to see how you know it is going to end. It even gives a hint of what is coming next in the next book in this series, unfortunately, I don't think the author has written it yet.… (meer)
