The smoke has cleared and the war in Queen City left a lot of work for the coroner. But there may be MORE slow singing and flower bringing!
So Justice has headed to the Midwest to start over, grieve her brother's death, deal with all that transpired and lay low. That's what Justice wants but that's not necessarily what Justice may get. Revenge is on everyone's mind. Justice wants Tan dead. Tan wants Justice dead. Red wants Justice dead. Justice wants Carlos dead. Carlos wants Red dead.
Bottom line...you know somebody or somebodies is gonna end up dead, but finding out how author Mike Sanders will steer to that ending keeps readers hooked. Full of action, memorable characters, and some surprises, "Thirsty II" packs a punch. As with its predecessor, the stage is set and the plot is heavily character driven. The characters are on a crash course and it's impossible to look away, yet you hate to see the book come to an end.
Mike Sanders has found the formula for writing about the grit, grime and violence of the streets but in an entertaining way. And he does so without having to resort to shock tactics, gimmicks or the cliché. Also, a fan of the TV show The First 48, I loved Mike's incorporation of their filming in Charlotte-Mecklenburg in this story. The only problem with "Thirsty II" is what I consider a conclusion too hasty for my liking. Overall, it was a great read.
Four books, count `em (Hustlin' Backwards, Snitch, Thirsty, Thirsty II), and Mike is still making it do what it do.
