Review:
"Charity's Gunman" by Aedan Sayla

My Assessment:

If you are looking for a sexual, read about second chances...along with 'lots of emotion, romance that lasts, eroticism that mesmerizes, and a timeless message,' the reader has come to the right place. To not tell too much about this read but know that Luke was definitely taking care of Charity. Pick up this read to find out what happens when Luke awakens to find out he is being taken care of by an angel. Yes, there are a lot of sex scenes [because it is an erotic read], but it is all exceptionally well-written in how well this Author brings it out to the reader and gives an ending of a beautiful HEA.

I received this ebook as a LibraryThing Member giveaway in return for a review on Librarything and Amazon. This is clearly introduced as erotic christian fiction - which I now know is a "thing". The dedication states - and I quote in full:"Dedicated to the preservation of true Biblical masculinity. In a world increasingly run by out of control feminist agendas, there is increasingly a lack of true masculinity to be found within the male population that increasingly is witnessing a decline in overall fitness of body, mind and spirit. This book is for men and women who appreciate true gender roles as they were created by God to be and even so this book will surely offend those who no longer want a man to be what he should be and think a woman should be almost anything apart from what she was created to be. Sincerely, Aedan Sayla" then there is a Quote from Corinthians. So there is that, which when you consider the word INCREASINGLY is used 3 times in less than 50 words, the author is on a role.

The novella begins as a sci-fi story. there is a hugely technologically advanced air ship/air carrier, with some 472 people on board and they are flying over the totally devastated and ruined land that was their country. They alone of the citizens have survived because they were in this ship. Of course vengeance must be had, but after that the sensible over child bearing aged female doctor comes to the captain and lets him know that if the crew want to repopulate their people the crew onboard are wildly imbalanced - I'm guessing because good women of childbearing age were on the ground bearing children. anyway, the ship can hole 2,100 people. There are 420 or so men - she suggests that each man have 5 wives to repopulate the future nation and that to avoid inbreeding, those come from women who are in the several refugee camps, have fathers who will sell them for a pittance or bought at slave markets - all very old testament stuff.
Then the decision is made to take this advanced air craft into unknown territory where it is unlikely to be followed and there may be land where the human resources can be born and developed into a fledgling nation. Very much Moses taking the tribes of Abraham into the wilderness, However my Old Testament didn't come with graphic sex which is close to porn as I have come across - and I am NO PRUDE.
What is the difference between porn and erotica? Well porn is in shrink wrap and erotica you download off Amazon and no one knows you are reading it on public transport.
The love of God and His Son is mentioned many times, but if you want to believe this is the Holy Trinity, and His Son is/was Jesus then go ahead, but you can toss that off and just enjoy the rom[p in the Captain's cabin. Spoiler - the Captain has got 2 of his five wives pregnant, and just has one left to "penetrate" oh and they find land and then the story finishes.

Based on the first chapter, Aedan Sayla has the making of a good Sci-Fi writer. But soon after that chapter, the need for more women to help repopulate a self-annihilated society is established. Thereafter, the story becomes focused on the subjugation and sexual domination of the captain’s five common-law wives. These women, scared and rebellious, were largely purchased at auction in the enemy territory. In short order, they become submissive to the captain’s sexual desires. According to the book, that after one night in the sac, they begin referring to him as “master” and they become desirous of his sexual attention.

The main character of this titillating short story, less than 100-pages long, is an advanced-technology airship captain and divorcee, who is gifted with the ability to repeatedly harden with minimal stimulation, and then perform for hours at a time. His mostly all-male crew have also been provided with five wives each. Self-serving bible references are used to justify this new polygamous practice. Not addressed, however, is how they will provide for the care, the physical, and the educational needs of the large influx of children, all of a similar age, that will result from multiple unions.

This book may appeal to the sexual fantasies of young male readers but it’s not the Sci-Fi story it could have been.

I'm afraid i found this pretty bad. I started with an open mind, since i've read plenty of erotica, but this was just bad. The story, the pace, the execution...Not for me,sorry

Aedan is a gifted author. I enjoyed and liked the main characters and world-building situation. I was intrigued by the idea of an erotic Christian romance. Is there such a thing? Apparently melding two seemingly disparate genres makes folks uncomfortable, me included, and it does jar uncomfortably at times. It was difficult entwining the heated and very graphic sexually-charged scenes with my Christian roots, but this ain't about me. Did I love the characters? Why, yes. Were the interactions and plots entertaining. Yes. Did the novel suspend disbelief and kept me turning page after page? Yes. 'Nuff said.

A well written erotic love story with a unique storyline and very likeable main characters. Tying in GOD with erotica was quite different. A book that I enjoyed and would recommend to mature adults only.
