This is an OwnVoices book about an Indian holiday known as Diwali - “The Festival of Lights”. It is narrated by a young girl named Dia and starts off with her going through how they celebrate with lights like candles and sparklers and the story of why they celebrate Diwali by telling us about the return of Prince Rama and his family. I would for sure use this in my class to teach my students about different cultural holidays that they may be unaware of and also provide representation for students who may celebrate Diwali!… (meer)
