A thoroughly delightful and lyrical historical novel. The book wove a fascinating narrative of Mary and Percy Bysshe Shelley’s relationship without painting it in rose-coloured tints or favouritism. I loved the underlying love of literature that shone in the prose, and the author gave a distinct feel of the time period. The book was captivating and immersed me as a reader within the world created on the pages.
It is also clear the author well-researched the subject matter and did a fine job in balancing the facts and the fiction.
I highly recommend this book.

The Aziola's Cry by Ezra Ilarker Shaw

This is a story about Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley, author of Frankenstein, about the origin and development of Frankenstein in 1818 but also her unconventional (scandalous at their time) love story between her and Percy Bysshe Shelley and her tragic life experiences. A fascinating read! I enjoyed exploring and imagining how she would have coped with her difficulties and depression following the loss of her children. She was a strong and talented woman. I would definitely recommend this book, not just for fans of Frankenstein.

I received the ebook in exchange for my early review. All opinions are my own.

I received an early review copy of this book.
I thought this book was incredible. I am a huge fan of biographical fiction and Frankenstein, so I dove into this reading experience with a lot of anticipation, and I was not disappointed. The story is beautifully written, with nearly perfect pacing. The characters are complicated and well developed--even those you may be tempted to hate have their glimmers of redemption. The relationship between the Shelleys was described with so much care and affection.
What struck me most was the incredible depiction of grief and depression and the toll they take on both an individual and those who love them. As someone who struggles with depression and how to protect my spouse from its effects, stepping in to Mary and Percy's life helped me feel less alone in the tempest of life.
I look forward to Harker Shaw's book on Mary's life after Shelley!
Favorite quotes:
"Growing a forest takes autumns as well as springs."
"For once undammed my sorrow's flow maybe a deluge that his love might not withstand."

Such an amazing read. If you like historical fiction this one is for you. The research that went into this book is felt on every page. Even without previous interest of the Shelley's, you will leave this book feeling like you were some what part of their lives.
