Kaoru Shinozaki (1)

I had this in my TBR and wanted a brief palate cleanser. It was a fairly successful adaptation of the original novel; Becky is one of Neels' downtrodden heroines, but that part isn't dwelt on too much in the manga. The story flows well, especially since it has to go from England to Norway to the Netherlands, but there's not a lot of plot. The artwork is OK but not as good as some of the Harlequin manga titles. The style is spare, which I like, but the characters' expressions are limited and you don't get much of a sense of movement. The animals are well done and the Evil Other Woman was appropriately shrewish. The hero, Tiele, is supposed to be a Large Dutch Doctor but his head is oddly small for his body in some of the panels.… (meer)
