--RECEIVED AS PART OF LIBRARYTHING'S EARLY REVIEW--

This is a lovely book; it is a bit scary, but in an age appropriate way, and it is dealing with very scary subjects that kids need to know about. The illustrations are cute, but still mesh well with the story.

I found this to be a wonderful picture book that gently introduces how it might feel to emigrate from a country of origin to seek a new and welcoming homeland. The main character, Crocodile, is very nicely illustrated and has very expressive eyes. The small details in all the pictures are lovely; for example, the welcoming mice population that befriend Crocodile are each drawn as individuals with personality and unique clothing. I think this is very good book for children to read with an adult who can help explain the emotional underpinnings of the immigration story.… (meer)

Crocodile's Crossing is a great book for children who have immigrated to a new place. This book describes Crocodile's journey and the feelings he has while visiting new places. He is sometimes welcomed, but most of the time not. The artwork is excellent - the more you look at the pictures the more you see. There are always hidden little things in each page.
