This book from Dorling Kindersley is a small colorful book with photographs and drawings, which begins with a geography lesson. It continues by introducing children from different countries and telling something about their personal lives and then moving on to their school day.

A TRIP TO THE DENTIST is DK Reader at the beginning Third Grade Reading level. The book has 32 pages, 484 words, and is Common Core Aligned.

A TRIP TO THE DENTIST outlines the experience of a sister and brother who go to the dentist. One or two points are a little outdated, but the basics are covered very well.

This is the sort of book I would have read to my children when they were small to prepare them for a visit to the dentist. There is no drama involved and the children in the book are presented as being very happy throughout.

Besides explaining procedures, like how you give your name to the receptionist and how a cavity is filled, the book discusses how often to brush, foods we should only have occasionally, and where the incisors and molars are.

A TRIP TO THE DENTIST would be a good book to share with little ones. It's an okay book for 3rd Graders. I actually think they could have included more information about teeth --such as the function of incisors and molars-- but regardless, it's a solid read that might make a good addition to the book shelves of a classroom.

A good book for the younger child who is afraid of the dentist and or curious about the dentist. A nonfiction book.

Summary: This book was designed and given out as free gifts with Chick-Fila kids meals. It covers the European countries of Belgium, Spain, The Netherlands, Denmark, Poland, Germany and France. It introduces us to a child from each country and tells us a little bit about each country on the first page. After that each child gets 4 pages of which they show multiple pictures from their lives and their country, and have small paragraphs accompanying those telling you where they are from and what a typical school day is like for them.

Personal Reaction: I prefer my children receiving a book with a kids meal over a cheap toy. I like that they make them educational in nature and well thought out. I like this one in particular because it gives American kids a chance to see what its like for other kids around the world, and that they can see the difference, but also the similarities of kids around the world.

Classroom Extension: I would incorporate this book into lessons about Europe. Culture, Climate, geography, agriculture and so forth.

I would also have the kids tell me or write a short story on how they feel the kids in the book are different from them and how they are the same.
