I enjoyed Adam and Kendall! These two are strong for each other without the intrusion of chemistry. Adam and Kendall are just good friends and better partners. But, don’t think Kendall won’t put Adam in his place! She is definitely the one in charge. I loved her intelligence and her way with children. Adam can get a bit over zealous. But, his niece is missing and his emotions are high.

Now, this ending will mess you up…just a warning. This is what made this book for me. I love it when the ending takes a twist you never expected.

The narrator, Erin DeWard, did a very good job. She is intense and just the right times.

Every Missing Girl by Leanne Kale Sparks is a very highly recommended procedural and the second novel in the series featuring FBI Special Agent Kendall Beck set in Denver.

FBI Special Agent Kendall Beck and Denver Homicide Detective Adam Taylor team up to investigate the kidnapping of Taylor's niece, Frankie, at a local hockey rink. This closely follows the shooting at a minimart where two people are shot and a child is taken form the scene by a good Samaritan. Kendall is sure that the child is the victim of child trafficking. After Frankie has disappeared, Adam’s brother, Mark, and sister-in-law, Poppy, have no information to share, but Kendall is suspicious that something more is going on.

The details of the investigation and discovery of clues in Every Missing Girl is fantastic and the suspense is palpable as Kendall and Adam race time trying to find Frankie while uncovering everyone involved in the trafficking ring, along with other things. Following the compelling investigation kept me glued to the pages. The plot and the investigation are equally enthralling. I really enjoyed this procedural and will have to check out Sparks previous novel featuring Agent Beck, The Wrong Woman. I found that Every Missing Girl worked fine as a stand alone novel for everyone who loves a great procedural.

The character development was great and the characters were all portrayed as realistic, credible individuals with their own beliefs and reactions. Both Kendall and Adam are portrayed as intelligent, sympathetic, tough, and proficient. The dialogue between characters is great. They are likable (when they want to be), extremely competent, and you will be hoping that they find the clues they need to solve their investigations.

With a fast moving plot that includes twists and surprises revealed within the investigation, the final denouement is extraordinary and perfect. All the investigative threads are followed to a satisfying conclusion. This is a wonderful novel and reminds me of how much I enjoy a well-written procedural.

The story starts with a shooting in a convenience store in a bad part of Denver. The clerk draws a gun when a guy comes in and wants the cash in the till. He has a gun too. Shots are exchanged. Even an innocent bystander in the store gets a chance to take some shots before leaving with a young girl who came in with the robber. The robber and the clerk both die and Detective Adam Taylor leads the investigation.

The first thing they learn is that the young girl had been kidnapped and was set to be trafficked. She provides clues about who lured her out of her home. It looks that Taylor and his team have found a pretty complex trafficking operation. FBI Agent Kendell Beck gets involved because she works crime against children.

But when Adam's niece Frankie disappears from the hockey arena where she's playing while Adam, Kendall, and Frankie's parents are watching, the trafficking case gets close to home and really personal for both Adam and Kendall.

The story was a tension-filled hunt to find the missing Frankie before she disappears into the trafficking network. But with tensions between her mom and dad, kidnap by traffickers might be a second option to her running away. Family secrets are outed but still waste a lot of time that could be used searching for Frankie.

Along the way other crimes are discovered including drug dealing by Frankie's hockey coach which also might have given him some reason to want to do harm to Frankie.

This was a great story with lots of twists and turns. Fans of thrillers can't help but enjoy this one. I especially liked Kendall's sarcastic nature.… (meer)

Special Agent Kendall Beck is struggling to find out why 5 year old Emily disappeared. While she is knee deep in this investigation, her best friend, Gwen, is missing. This sends Kendall into a tail spin. And it sends her right onto the track if a serial killer!

Now, this novel has several different stories moving around. And at the end it all falls into place very neatly. A bit too tidy, if you ask me. It is almost rushed. But, I needed this on a boring drive. It hit the spot. The intensity and the hunt for the killer kept me entertained and guessing! The narrator, Erin Deward is excellent. She has the perfect voices for the characters!
