This book was written as a textbook for the first course in using a personal computer as a business problem-solving tool. The operating systems in vogue were MS-DOS and CP/M. The popular word processors were pfs:Write, MultiMate, and WordStar. The popular spreadsheet applications were pfs:Plan, Lotus 1-2-3, and Multiplan. The popular database applications were pfs:File, pfs:Report, dBase II, dBase III, R-base 4000, and R-base 5000. The authors also covered the popular communications programs of the era: pfs:Access, Crosstalk XVI, and Smartcom.

Microcomputers in Business: Wordstar, dBASE II and… door J. Wayne Spence
This book is an abridgment of Spence and Windsor's Using Microcomputers: Applications for Business (1987). Like the larger edition, this book was written as a textbook for a first course on how to use a personal computer as a business problem-solving tool. It is a stripped down edition for those courses that teach only WordStar, dBase II and III, and Lotus 1-2-3.
