The author of this book offers a unique approach to working with the tarot. Instead of using the tarot deck as a means of divination he gives the reader the means to use the tarot as the basis for a spiritual path.

There are comprehensive details on incorporating each of the major and minor arcana into your spiritual work. For each card there are meditations, visualizations and “prayers” used for deepening ones awareness of the cards and for incorporating the lessons of the card into your life. Also included are astrological correspondences, the Hebrew letter and meaning, general statements about the card and questions particular to the card you are working with.

The author also provides individual card meanings for use with readings. This information is simplified, but not so much that you are left unclear of the cards deeper meaning. As with any good tarot book, there is room for personal interpretation as well.

The visualizations and meditations are beautiful and evocative. Very well suited for daily meditation or a meditation group. The prayers were more like incantations or ritual prose, reminiscent of the Charge of the Goddess and other ritual standards. One could easily incorporate those into a ritual working.

This is definitely not a book to be rushed through. In order to fully appreciate the depth of the information presented one would be wise to work with only one or perhaps two cards per moon cycle. If used as a workbook for a study group it could easily take a year or more of in-depth study to finish completely. An older child who wishes to explore the spiritual aspects of the tarot more fully would benefit greatly from this book. As would any solitary individual or coven group. Highly recommended!… (meer)
