I absolutely enjoyed this book. Shaun and Sarah are the best. Love the way they handle things. They get in and get out.

This book started off strong. It seemed to have a great plot, characters you could relate to, especially if you had siblings. After about half of the book, it lost me, though. After that, it seemed to just go around in circles. For me, I need some questions answered to continue on in a story. This one just didn’t. It kept piling question upon question, with no answers for any of them. Towards about the 3/4 mark, I just gave up trying to figure anything out. It was a decent story, like I said, even though it is a series, it would have been nice if anything got answered. Instead, after finishing the book, I feel like I know no more now than I did when I started the book. It isn’t a bad book, it was well written and has a solid story, just the writer’s style doesn’t mesh with what I look for in a book.

What a fascinating read! At first, I wasn't sure if I would be able to get into this book. There was something about Shawn's perspective that I couldn't get into. It took me around 2-3 chapters to actually get engrossed in the book, but once I did, I DEVOURED this!

I loved Sarah right away. She is the bad-ass demon slayer that lives somewhere hidden deep inside me, that I long to be. She's beautiful, powerful, and doesn't take crap from anyone.

Shawn's character though, took me a while to get into. He's too standoffish, but as the story progressed I came to enjoy that. I loved the brief moments he had with his Bound Partner, Melissa. His thinking was just adorable. Also, really love the relationship between Shawn and Sarah's 2 BFF/Lover dudes.

The one thing that kept throwing me off was the location. I really wish that the author would have went into detail about that in the beginning. You can tell it takes place in some Urban Fantasy setting, somewhere in Great Britain/the United Kingdom, possible Scotland, but you don't get those vibes. The way they speak sounds almost American, but then there are some Euro slang thrown in. hat threw me off, but I find it intriguing that it does take place somewhere over there.

Definitely loved the twin vibes. The way the Gallows Twins got along was lovely, and I can not wait to see where that goes in further volumes. I do wish there was more back story, or prologue that explains how Shawn got his scars. That seems like it would be a fascinating read, but I think Sharon will get into that more in other parts of the series.

I loovee how Sarah's a sex pistol, but it was kind of off putting how she kept jumping between the Bully, and her 2 BFF/Lover Dudes. She had excellent vibes with all of them, and every time she got near one of them, you wanted her to be with that one, then she jumped to another and it was like...dammmmmnn...can't decide how I want this to end. LOL! The twist at the end definitely got my attention, the next book in the series is really going to be interesting.

Overall, this was a cool book. It seems much dirtier or grittier than most books in this field, and that I welcomed. I loved how the characters interacted with each other, all of the Supernatural beings, how the Bully kept being torn from Vampire to Human, like it was a disease or he was just possessed, how they had to keep taking trains even though they are bad-ass demon trackers. Definitely a good read.

Recommend this to anyone that loves PNR, Urban Fantasy, Supernatural, and Demon Hunter/Slayer/Tracker Goodness.

A fast paced, hugely funny story that will make you go hmmmmm! This story is about a set of twins that are demon hunters and they are good at what they do. What happens when you put them in a situation that 1, they are not used to, 2. could change both their lives permanently, and 3. could make the council think twice about allowing them to ever hunt again when it is all they have ever known. In this story the twins meet plenty of scary characters that will either make you laugh or cringe but are completely a part of the story. The story takes on multiple twists and turns and keeps you reading!

Blood Bound (Gallows #1) by Sharon Stevenson is an exciting fantasy from page one! It has nonstop action, suspense, fighting, a mystery, fun dialogue, and much more in one book. It does end leading into book 2, so not quite a complete closure but enough to be satisfied. The characters are developed and plot very good and complex. The twins, Shaun and Sarah, our main characters are flawed and likeable at the same time. An enjoyable read. Look forward to book 2.

I really enjoyed this book!

The two main characters are demon hunters, 17 years old, and brother and sister. They are almost completely different from each other. One outgoing and social, the other confused and unsure. One looking for love in all the wrong places, the other not sure of what to do next. One beautiful to behold, one distant and scarred. One light one dark.

But they are very good at what they do. They deal with the problems of the area in which they live, at least the paranormal ones. Assigned by the village council they kill vampires, remove spells, and repair the damages done.

But here's the twist. These characters are fleshed out, with desires, emotions, beliefs and other foibles (don't want to give too much away!).

Not only is it a fast paced paranormal story, I found myself stopping every now and again to ponder thru what I'd read. The actions were easy, the emotions not so.

The book is written with a British ear for vocabulary and idioms. But they are not hard to figure out and lend an air of honesty to the proceedings.

I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for a honest review. I hope I get the opportunity to review book #2 'Demon Divided'.

A well developed paranormal/supernatural series starter which contains action, suspense, mystery, and romance. The characters are likeable with faults and do make several mistakes. There are plenty of creatures in the story with a well created world. Twist and turns exist and the story contains a bit of humor. The story is fast paced and keeps the readers involved. I totally recommend this book to all lovers of a good paranormal/supernatural story.

I received an e-book copy of this book from the author through an internet giveaway and the following is my honest opinion. Please note, the author has used British English in the writing which will reflect in the spelling of certain words and terminology being used.

While the author warns readers her book that despite the age of her two main characters [their 17 years old], twins Shaun and Sarah Gallows, is that a not YA novel; I feel it might qualify as still being appropriate for the upper range for a NA [New Adult] novel.

These twins, although they’re demon trackers, a job they’re paid to do by the village by their council, they’re different as night and day. While Shaun wants to forget about the powers he has, his sister Sarah embraces them fully.

This difference comes into play when they’re confronted with another demon tracker their age, Melissa Carling, who’s abusing her powers by going after those with super-natural powers who have done nothing wrong. Sarah wants to give her what’s coming to her, but, Shaun become infatuated with her the moment he sees her in a way he has never done before with a girl his age.

If you’re into fantasy and its creature, than this book should please you as it has: demons, fairies, vampires, werewolves and for good measure, witches.

The bad thing about being a Book Reviewer is not really being able to have the luxury to continue reading the next book in the series once you’ve found one which has piqued your interest. This is why, I’m happy to give Ms. Stevenson 5 STARS for the first volume of her Gallows novel series of books.

Review for Blood Bound

Firstly I was given this book for an honest review.

If I had to compare this to any other book, it would have to be the Demon Trapper by Jana Oliver, in its style.

The story is told through the eyes of 19year old twins Sarah and Shaun who are fallen. They live in a small house set in a forest, this is their base, a place to retire to after a long day’s work, but nothing ever goes smoothly in their personal lives or work. Their jobs are given to them by the council; if it’s helping a witch who is enchanted by black magic or slaying a nest of vampires, the list goes on of the supernatural creatures that are in this book, fairies, demons, werewolves, vampires and witches.
With all these creatures the story is fast paced and keep’s you reading – hence why I finished it in two days.

Shaun who is one of the 19year old twin’s is an amazing character. I love his sense of humour which is dry and his moody personality. I just took to him straight away. His story is a little more complex than his sisters with a horrible run in with a vampire that costs him an eye and a badly scarred body. His experience makes him suppress his powers, making his job harder, but through the story he finds his powers, with the help from some people not all good especially Melisa who is just pure evil.

Sarah on the other hand is caught up in a love triangle between Ray and Dev, it’ funny throughout the book but I got annoyed by the end with Dev, I don’t know what his story is but I am hoping there is more than what meets the eye and hopefully it will be revealed in the next book. I wasn't completely enthralled with Sarah, yes she was exciting and the story through her eyes was fast paced. I like her but just didn't fully connect with her

In saying all that I would highly recommend this book, the writing was easy and flowed. It was a well thought out and written book. I hope I have the privilege of reviewing the second book.
