I downloaded this book free for Kindle and read it in a few days. The author from USA became a missionary to Japan but ended his first stint on the field early after experiencing many personal struggles. As a fellow missionary currently on a break I related to a lot of the struggles the author details. I also admire the honesty of the author in revealing his heart to the public and for the benefit of others who may rush into missions without adequate preparation. Content wise the first half of the book is an interesting and helpful read.

However, I found the style difficult in places as the second half of the book seems to be a collection of random thoughts about life and faith which reads like a series of blog posts. Maybe this would have been better as a separate book....

Worth reading for those thinking of heading to the field especially to cultures/places that are very different to their own....
