John Paul Strain

John Paul Strain, a native of Nashville, worked as an illustrator for the United States Department of Energy and produced many paintings of the landscapes of the Old West before becoming the foremost artist of the American Civil War. Working in the medium of gouache, an opaque watercolor, Strain toon meer has rendered unforgettable images of the war and its leaders, both Union and Confederate. An avid collector of Civil War artifacts, he also trains horses for reenactments at battles. Strain lives in Forth Worth, Texas, with his wife and children. toon minder
