There appears to be no criteria as to how the subjects for these sketches were chosen. Thousands of people emigrate to Santa Fe yearly and they all have a story of some sort. The only criteria I can find are that all the people chosen are wealthy enough to emigrate and have laudable careers because of their financial advantages.
