The first one was great, and this second one was even better somehow, and now I cannot wait for the third one! These are funny and sweet and science fiction in the general direction of Firefly but with actual diversity in a bigger chunk of space. I'm impressed at how well the author lays out this universe through characters. There is no telling, no data-dumping, just these characters trying to make life make sense while trying to stay alive and hide feelings. It's awesome. If you enjoy the first chapter, you'll enjoy this whole book, so go read the e-sample. It is space opera-esque without the campy layer, ideal for me.

I loved the author's style and the characters so much that I will read the second book (Ari's twin Theo's story) as soon as I can afford it. Orin is ADORABLE. If you hate pet names, this might not be for you, but in this universe they're normalized and I warmed up to it easily.

I read the last four chapters last night; the ending's perfect, aimed me right at book 2 without leaving me hanging. Give this one a try! I want the author to write more books!… (meer)
