How come nobody reviewed this one yet? It's a really fun short! Deena figures that a short dinner cruise would be a fun romantic trip, but the first thing to go wrong was husband Gary's back after which he overdid the pain pills and champagne. Then there's the passengers who sort of mimic the Gilligan bunch, the wedding party with the totally soused best man, and ...
You've just got to read it! It's not too long and it's a lot of fun. Well, except for the dead guy.

Well-written plot with a murder that may be tied to a historical event – the Kennedy assassination or maybe not.

When the body of a 50-year old skeleton turns up in a storage room at the Bingham County Police Station in Texas – After 50 years it is identified as the missing person of Matthew Meade.

Deena Sharpe, former school journalist teacher, takes on the challenge of investigating her Uncle Matthew’s murder in 1964.

An author of conspiracy theories, Leon Galt speculated Matthew was involved in the assassination, if Deena and the family can provide an alternate reason for the murder, he will not be able to publish his upcoming book. Watch out Deena!

A new author and excellent mystery I found by chance. Recommended½

The characters are interesting and so real that you just can't help getting involved. Good sleuthing complete with twists and red herrings. I loved it!

This is the first book I've read by this author, and let me tell you: it was a delight.

The characters are lively, quirky and funny. The relationships between them are enjoyable and credible, and the mystery is twisty and full of surprises. A great book for those who enjoy the genre.

I got an ARC of this book, and after I read it, I decided that a review was in order :D

Spoiler Free Review:
This is the second in the Killer Shots Mysteries. The series follows the adventures of Wendy Fairmount who has returned to her hometown after a bad breakup. Wendy was a character in Ms Thomas's other series and has been spun off into her own series. Wendy is a photographer and trying to establish her business in her old hometown.
Ms. Thomas has created a interesting set of characters to surround her with. This is a good fit for the cozy genre as it is a clean read, with a touch of humor and a touch of romance. The book is well edited and well plotted. She shows herself to be a talented storyteller and I look for this to be a well received series.
So if you like cozy mysteries, like the with a bit of humor and a host of quirky characters then this series should be a good fit for you.

Good suspense with lots of clues and twists, character development is very well done. See publisher's blurb for hints, no spoilers here. I really enjoyed this fine mystery and hope to read more from this author.
I was lucky to have been able to obtain an audio of this book and feel that Ms. Mrozek truly enhanced the author's work with her pleasant vocal range and voice interpretation of each character.
Thanks to AudioBookBoom for the opportunity to request and receive this book.

In Sharpe Shooter, author Lisa B. Thomas weaves an intriguing cozy mystery tale that easily draws the reader into ex-teacher turned amateur sleuth Deena Sharpe's adventure when she tries to uncover the fifty year old cold case mystery behind her late Uncle Matthew's unexplained disappearance and murder, when his skeleton is discovered in the closet of the Perry County Sheriff's Office. Deena takes the reader along on her amateur sleuth adventure as she tries to clear her family's name and uncover the truth behind her uncle's murder.

This captivating and fast-paced whodunit tale has enough quirky characters, witty humor, drama, intriguing twists and turns, and conspiracy theories that will keep you guessing. Rich in detail and vivid descriptions, the story takes place in rural Maycroft, Texas, a picturesque southern town with a lot of heart and charm. The description of the town and its residents was simply wonderful, there's nothing better than down home country charm and living.

This entertaining cozy mystery tale will keep you engaged as you turn the pages following along with Deena's investigative adventure, and you can't help but get caught up in the drama and calamity that ensues as she tries to solve her uncle's murder. Deena's story unfolds with a wonderful balance of comedy, drama, and suspense that easily kept me guessing, and left me wanting more.

Sharpe Shooter is a riveting cozy murder mystery that will engage you to join in the crazy adventures and trials and tribulations that occur, while providing you with a dose of good ol' southern charm and humor.

Sharpe Shooter is the first book in the Cozy Suburbs Mystery Series.

It was nice to see these characters again and to see the story build on what we learned in book 1.

Deena and her husband are invited (for the first time) to the Fitzhugh holiday charity party. During a break in the festivities, their hostess is discovered dead at the bottom of the stairs. Most think it was an accident, but her caregiver daughter, Estelle, is convinced her mother was pushed down the stairs and asks Deena to investigate.

Deena's decision is complicated by the fact that her brother Russell is dating Estelle and that the deputy is the dead woman's nephew. An old suitor of Estelle's comes out of the woodwork to claim that her late mother paid him to go away.

I did not guess who did it until it was revealed.

A mystery with a journalism teacher as the amateur sleuth. This particular murder is a cold case that is rediscovered when a deputy is tasked with going through an old closet used for filing in the past.
