I hate when a book gives you a promising premise that draws you in, has two of your favorite genres (dark and omegaverse), and makes you extremely excited that once you have the book in hand, you just cannot wait to read it. I thought that. I had so much hope for this book but I ended up hating it. I hated that the plot stood at a standstill while to female leads just runs around trying to avoid the Alpha who is out for her.

There was nothing about this story that felt memorable about this book. The female lead, not only does not have any character growth, but all she does is "I'm An OmEgA bUt I dOn'T wAnT tHe MaLe LeAd" so she just runs around to avoid him.

I mean, this is all she has done throughout the damn story. She doesn't grow. She doesn't do anything worthy of making her a character that would stand out against the many Omegaverse characters out there that have the substance that makes them worthy of reading.

I tried pushing myself to finish this book, but I ended up skimming half of the book I had read before I put it down and decided it was not worth the finish. I don't see myself finishing up this series. It is sad because I would like to know how it ends, but I don't that it worth the torture.

Final Thought:

I mean, if you like your female character running all the time through the book and there being no plot that moves forward, then this book is something you might enjoy. If you don't, then avoid this book all together.

Things were bad enough but they have gotten even worse. more death and destruction, wild dangerous creatures, more lies, deceit and more people not to trust. Should they make their getaway when they have the chance or do they want? When two sets of mates learn the truth of their heritage, there is shock, denial, curiosity , , unbelief and even some some encouragement. This book has plenty of action, sex , emotion, sex and more emotions. There's everything from anger to lust, hate to love and in between. I can hardly wait until the next book in the series to come out.

Layla is the heir of the Nora kingdom but when her wings turn black for no reason , she is shipped to another Noir Reformatory with a guardian to watch over her. Shocked by all that is happening around her, she is shocked and terrified. But with Auric,( her Guardian) and new roomate Novak she is learning more about life then she never knew about. The warden of the reformatory is confusing, cruel and terrifying, she knows things are not the way they are suppose to be. But she has no control over anything going on but with the men in her life she will survive with their help. An amazing 2nd book in the series, you don't want to put it down

Born with black wings , Raven has been considered as fallen, even she has never done anything. At 18 she is transferred to something called Noir Reformatory , as the only female and been thrown into a cell with to men that she is attracted to.. We follow her through the dangers all around her , fighting her attractions and fighting for her life. We fight along with her in all things, feeling her attractions , and life in all ways. This is a well written book that sucks you into the story, terrifying us right along with the all. So many surprises of all kinds that you have to know next, I was not able to put it down until I finished the book

Novak is the King of the Reformatory. Auric is his commander and Layla is his lady love. He plans to show those who try to harm his mates that they won't survive the encounter. Their enemies will Bow or Bleed. One decision will determine who falls where. Time will tell.

Layla is the Princess of the Nora and her wings have turned black. No one knows why. She's sent to the reformatory with her guardian, Auric. While there she meets Novak who wants to order her around. Nope! No one tells her what to do. She's the Princess. BOW DOWN, BOYS!!

Raven was born with black wings which automatically designated her as a Noir. On her 18th birthday, she is taken to Noir Reformatory where it's 10 to 1 males to females. It's ruled by two "kings" who want her. Bring it on boys!! She's no whimpering female. She's tenacious.

Candela is a nice mix between “romance” (smut) and a coherent plot. It’s short and sweet and doesn’t overstay its welcum.

While it’s book 11 in the series and I haven’t read (or listened) to any of the others, I never had trouble following along. It’s obvious that you’re reading part of a larger story, but it doesn’t hinder the one that this book is trying to tell.

Overall the narrators did an excellent job. It’s always a treat when a book uses a different narrator for each character. The only issue with the narration I had was the narrator who kept mispronouncing Caramel. Carmel is a mountain, not a sweet. It’s annoying as hell that this mispronunciation hasn’t been stomped out yet.

Exciting new series!

This was my first time reading this author and I loved it! Lily awoke one day with no memory of where she came from or who/what she was. Waking alone and covered in blood it was sheer luck she found her way to safety and a type of family that took in supernatural beings like herself with no clue who they are. If only she hadn't trusted them....after all in one night she learned it's all a lie. Those she considered friends and family were the opposite and all it took was one hot bounty hunter coming into the bar to show her the truth. All that remains is learning what she truly is. Escaping with the bounty Hunter to a place called Fortune Academy she deals with a new level of mean girls and cliques. She just wants to gain her memories and know what she is. Yet For some reason the two that know the answers won't tell her.....yet. Alliances made, trials endured....it's she what the prophecy foretold? An exciting start to this new series! I can't wait for book two!!!

Whirlwind of a ride!

Claire grew up orphaned and raised by her grandparents. At arms length is a kind way of putting it. Berated her entire life for the so called cruelty her mother showed by abandoning her father and herself saying she'd return, and in fact never did so. She's no memories of her, and just the coldness of being raised in a loveless home since her father died soon after her mum vanished. Seems her grandparents though kind enough to raise her, took all their blame and anger out on her. Cut to her 21st birthday where she's escaping life and partying with her BFFs. As a rule she's more introverted, so when Rick dares her to kiss to the supreme hotty at the bar she does just that.

B O O M!!!

Little did Claire think her entire world would change in that very instant! A fire like no other starts at the bar and Exos aka Hotty McHotterson barely manages to get Claire to safety and out of the mass flames. Sadly her friend Rick didn't survive, and Exos fears Claire's response upon learning. Bad enough she's about to learn she's a fae halfling of prophecy that can yield FIVE elements, when only the most special among them yield two. This golden child that shines with pure goodness wasn't raised to know anything about the Fae. Nor does she know what her mother did by possibly sacrificing herself for Claire. Worst of all she doesn't know that she, Claire is purported to be either the savior or Doomsbringer of ALL fae. Now to tell ALL this to one young lady? It's too much! Yet he's charged with doing just that.


The next time Claire awakens she's in a strange place with faces she doesn't know. Her learning will fast begin, and her heart will break. Yet under it all is a kind hearted, FIERCE female that will do ANYTHING when it comes to those she cares for or innocents. Goddess help those on the wrong side! She'll quickly have to come up to speed on all things Fae, elements, royalty, and find out EXACTLY what happened to her mother and why?!? (Sidenote: I for one am leaning on the side that maybe the story the fae say about her mum is just that ....a story. I've a sinking feeling her mum might not be the big bad everyone believes her to be. Then again I could be wrong). Claire will have to work overtime with her friends on learning all she can, and avoiding the fae mean girl crew. My money is on Claire! I can't wait to see what's next in book two, and possibly unmask part of the real big bad. After all, rarely is it just one person

WOW! If you think Claire went through a lot in the last book then get ready!! This book she has to endure oh so much more!! Just as she and Exos had finally started caring for each other, someone managed to kidnap and lock him down through evil means. Not even Cyrus can sense him! All her other potential mates are out of whack. Between desperately trying to find Exos, figure out who is behind repeatedly attacking Claire and taking Exos, messing with the emotions of the other guys, trying to stay alive, and along the way learning a few major truth bombs! This book is one woozy of a read! I cannot wait to see the next book where I'm expecting a full on beat down of the big bad!!!! Three cheers for Claire!!!

Wow!! Talk about complicated family dynamics! Lily is still stumbling through Fortune Academy, but it's hard to get a hold when EVERYONE is keeping secrets from her. Worse is many of these secrets are ABOUT her... So not cool!!! Slowly but surely she begins unraveling many of the layers of deception. She finally learns part of the major secret... Who and what she is. However I'm guessing this is the tip of a rather large iceberg. Join in the fun and games, and watch Lily and her Virtues as they bob and weave enemies toward the goal of saving everyone... And hopefully learn all that's been kept from her.

Wow! Talk about the ultimate game of cat and mouse or hide send seek. Very steamy, and ends with a HUGE cliffhanger. An extremely feisty female is determined to change her future. She's willing to do ANYTHING to make sure the vision she saw doesn't come true. However she's not to know she may not have seen all the pieces. Can she maintain her heart, soul and Destiny at the same time? Enjoy the Chase!!

WOW!!! Be prepared for high levels of heat and all kinds of craziness! Loads of adventure, secrets revealed, and one massive quest to complete. Of course it wouldn't be a quest without massive obstacles, and Lil and her guys endure some doozies!! Get ready folks for this book will blow your mind!!! I recommend having read the previous books first as this isn't a stand alone. It's a thoroughly exciting read every step of the way.

A quick peak behind the minds of Lily's Virtues. A little great for those wishing to know her Virtues a little better. Definitely need to read Fortune Academy first.

A wonderful holiday read with our favorite fae and hybrid characters. I would suggest reading the previous books if you haven't already, so as to.understand the character relationships and backstory. There's much holiday magic, steamy moments, and abundance of love.

Mind officially blown! This is the first book I've read in the seven book, multi author series! Here we meet 18 year old Raven, born with black wings. Unlike the other fallen angels with black wings ....that used to be white winged Nora (angels) until they'd done something so bad to cause their feathers to suddenly blacken, thus making them Noir. Raven had the hard fact of being the only being male or female BORN with black wings, and raised in a junior penitentiary never having known her parents. Time and time again people attempt to learn the story that turned her into a Noir, yet nobody has believed her truth. Everything she knows changes the day she's dragged to Nightmare Penitentiary and has to start fighting for her life. For this place is a constant state of Survivor where everyone is out for themselves. Far from a place to foster friendships, it will take everything within her to survive. It's definitely the LAST place she expects to find her true mates! Enjoy the journey and bevy of jaw dropping surprises!!! This place has so many layers of secrets and riddles. I've a feeling they're just getting started! Be warned there's a high heat quotient

What an utterly delicious read!!! Layla is an angel princess about to get a rude awakening. Suddenly spurned by her father the king, and angelkind as her wings turned black overnight. She's now thrust into a new world, one she'd never before imagined even within her nightmares. Sink or swim has never been more real. This book is filled with tons of action, mystery, surprises, and heat. It does end with a doozy of a cliffhanger so prepare yourself. I loved the character development and the intrigue factor here...I.honestly cannot wait to see what's up next. Book one definitely did a wonderful job of laying the foundation of this story....I for one look forward to seeing it play out.

A super fun supernatural romp. Strange fires are hitting the town, and other odd occurrences. What's a cupcake baker to do when all signs point to her being the culprit? This is a super quick, insanely fun read with many unique and interesting characters. Warning: great fun to be had if you read this

How much can a person fight against what is destined be their life? Do you fight with all you can or give in to it? Enjoyed reading it but some dark things happen that might turn a person off from it. But it is a great start to a series, I love reverse harem books and this is probably going to be one of my favorite series

Wow, the things you learn when you read a prequel to one of your favorite series. I knew some the things that were happened in the book but some of the others blew me away (no pun intended) Looks like I need to re-read the whole series again after this this one.

OMG, this book. It really just knocked me for a serious loop. Raven's story was intense, but in a really good way, and Sorin and Zain were just so fascinating. I'm really interested in their connection with Novak, and how that's going to work. Book 2 cannot come out soon enough to make me happy. I mean, it could be coming out tomorrow and it still wouldn't be soon enough for me.

I really like Raven. I kinda want to be her when I grow up. She's just got this real tough core, and is more than a little fierce. I mean, she will cut a bish and laugh the whole time she's doing it. I really wouldn't want to mess with her. She's smart and she knows it. Really, I mean, don't mess with her.

Sorin and Zain were hot enough on their own, I mean flaming hot, but then you put Raven in the mix, and everything went up like 1000000 times. I like both guys, and I really like that Raven got to have some time with Zain alone, because I think he was going to be the harder one to crack.

I want more of these guys, I mean, totally more.

What can I say about the 3rd book in the Royal Covens? You have to read it, it's never boring, there is always something exciting going on whether it is good or bad. Somewhere in the books you meet characters that are from other J. R. Thorn books and now I need to re-read many of her books so I can find out where they all fit in. This is a must read series

I loved the first book of this series but this one is even better then the first one. I'm in LUST with Evie's bondmates. But Evie is now fighting against a evil that has come back for her again. J. R. Thorn gives us an amazing story that can scare or excite a person when reading, but there are more emotions in this book. Those who she thought were friends/allies are not all that she thought they were. I'm excited that I'll be able book 3 because I'm hooked on Evie and her bond mates

I have loved J. R. Thorn's books and this series is right up there with them. Being a witch can be a great thing but if you were born a mortal then it's not so great. But finding out that you now have 4 vampire guardians can be great but is that all they want to be is Guardians to her. This is a great book and even better is that it's a series it means more J.R. Thorn to read.
