More than 140,000 Jews were interned in the camp at Theresienstadt. Of the 15,000 who were under age 15 at the time, less than 100 survived. Theresienstadt was the "model" ghetto-as a result-art, music, drama, ballet and sports were all part of the inmates' daily routine. These varied cultural activities, in spite of the daily exposure to death, enabled the children to cling to the hope of a brighter future.
