Short, 8-16 bar, single-melody line exercises in standard notation, in all key signatures, in open position. The best feature is that the rhythms get more interesting than usually found in beginner fare.

Many of the melodies themselves struck me as somewhat odd, there're some that are just plain bizarre, but I guess that's beside the point.

My main issue is that I'm skeptical that learning, e.g., G-flat major in open position instead of first position is worthwhile. I'd probably never normally play C-flat as an open 2nd string in G-flat as this book has you do.
