I read this as a quick read between books. I don't remember buying it but it somehow ended up in my to-read pile. It was not bad. I do feel they could have done more with the setting. They have a lot of time travelling and alternate history that doesn't seem to really change much, though it should. Also I didn't learn enough about the characters to care about anything that was happening to them. Perhaps the future books in the series will be better.

Both are nice to experience, but both are mostly confusing, to be honest. Art-wise, the line work is great, the use of black and white versus colour is a lovely touch, but there were countless times where I either had to really puzzle out what I was looking at, or I simply couldn't figure it out. I'm all for putting some effort in to enjoy the art, but there should also be a clarity when it comes to visual storytelling that, unfortunately, just isn't there in this volume.
As for the story, again, as a whole, I was able to suss out the story and generally what was going on, but there were a lot of abrupt scene changes that served only to confuse, as well as some leaps in the story that felt like it left some key scenes on the cutting room floor.
Overall, an interesting premise, but not a story world I'd revisit.… (meer)
