- Daughter's reminiscence: "In 1941, Vladimir Nikolaevich, not having finished the tenth class, entered the naval school. The training was accelerated, and a year later, the 17-year-old lieutenant of the medical service, in the specialty of military paramedic, began serving in parts of the Northern Navy. Military doctors were required everywhere. One time, in 1943, he served on the Rybachy Peninsula, on one of the operational airfields. Military paramedics provided first aid to wounded pilots before being sent to the hospital.
Vladimir Nikolaevich was a veteran of war and labor. All his life he worked at the Faculty of Journalism of Moscow State University, was a professor in the Russian language stylistics department, and worked in television and radio. Doctor of Philology, author of scientific articles and textbooks, he did a great deal for the development of the Russian literary language. Vladimir Nikolaevich was very fond of his students. He conducted classes in an interesting way, he joked a lot. He also enjoyed playing sports, was even a champion in speed skating."
