This is by far one of the more interesting, daring and agreeably pointed commentaries on sports cultural and children. Thematically, it is solid and drives to the hole the 3-points: exploiting race, perception and sports (sport figures) as a religion. This will spark all kinds of discourse, but cannot deny the honest examination of the seedy underbelly of false hopes and racial worth. To refuse the impact of influence is as naive as ignoring it. Fantastically constructed dialogue shapes each character instantly, and charges the text with an abrasiveness that, unless you have no pulse, will inspire some type of emotional response. This is a wonderful example of an absurdist short -- not just because it is silly. It does contain comical elements that will likely piss you off while making you laugh hysterically. It tightly shoves the human condition into words that simply can't be ignored. MJ and the Slam Dunk Suicide Cult embraces the desire to write freely and to allow controversy to fall where it may.… (meer)

I Hate Chicago was not quite what I was expecting. I had assumed a collection of lighthearted anecdotes but it is more a compilation of personal rants and philosophies on the Evils of Modern Society.There are moments of amusing and pointed commentary, his search for employment and accomodation in the city encapsulates a common experience, as does his struggle with college debt and independence.Vandermolen's views of 'Metropolis' are bitingly accurate and includes some interesting statistics. However not being a coffee drinker, and living in a country where there is no Starbucks or even an equivelent, his diatribe against the beverage and company was rather bewildering. I was not expecting the religious pitch at the end, though perhaps there were clues in quotes sprinkled in the manuscript.I have to conclude that I am not the right audience for this book, however it is a short read that may resonate with college graduates finding their way in the Real World.… (meer)
