A friend (AC) got me this book as a gift. This was a quick read (30-60 minutes).

Maxine (the character) is a bit irreverent and blunt. Sometimes that's good; sometimes it's not. The points made are generally true--some hit humorously and others not so much (for me at least). There's a lot of truth (which is a bit disconcerting at times, but also nice to know that you're not the only person experiencing that particular thing or thinking that particular thing).

As always, no holds barred!

Maxine's Grinch-like attitude toward Christmas is fun if you have that kind of humor, which I do. I enjoyed noticing that Maxine was wearing Christmas-themed earrings in some of the cartoons. Her dog appears in almost all of them. Her cat, which I hadn't known she had, appears in only one of them. (The cat is mentioned in several others). The cat's expression suggests it is a feline Maxine.

Consider this as a antidote to sugar-sweet Christmas offerings.

Crabby Maxine is visited by ghosts from the past, present, and future to try to get her to get some holiday spirit.
