Desmond Warzel

I do not ordinarily like horror stories, especially ones with contemporary settings, but this one pulled me in with setting and characters: two bad-ass, African American Vietnam vets who are now barbers in Harlem. The Blue Celeb starts out as a mystery, becomes a serious problem and then presents the men with a moral dilemma which they have to summon the courage and wisdom to resolve. While I enjoyed the characters, it was the moral dilemma at the end that really made the story for me.

Cute story about a morning radio call-in show host who is getting calls describing strange flight trails in the sky. Callers call in suggesting that there is an alien who has been hiding on earth and is secretly trying to be rescued by his followers. A fun and light story with a very unique approach. However, a great deal of time is wasted in setting up the premise.

A not-all-that unique story, but it's subtly flawed narrator makes up for it with the last two sentences.
