I actually read the 2002 version. I enjoyed the personal stories of weight loss and their tips. I wish there had been more stories. There are tons of recipes, but to me many were still too carb and fat heavy, and I am diabetic. I did see several fish recipes that sounded tasty. I also avoid recipes that use many ingredients and many of their recipes did. The photos are colorful. Some recipes were high in sugar or didn't pair a protein with carbs. However, it was written before the world became very carb and sugar-aware.

Though I do not follow the Weight Watchers program, this book looked like it had a lot of healthy and tasty recipes so I decided to buy it anyways. I like how the sections are divided up, that it has a good amount of seafood included, that the nutrition facts and serving sizes are listed, that it includes a pretty good amount of full page color photos of certain recipes, and the "food notes" at the bottom of each recipe which are really helpful or informative at the least- and I enjoy any extra tips!
I do wish cookbooks that include nutrition facts would also include the sugar content but I haven't seen any that do. Though I do appreciate that the sodium contents of most of these recipes is very low. I also wish this book had more pictures because I loooove that in a cookbook but am happy it at least has a good bit of them. I also love the sheer number of recipes included in this book and plan to use many of them time and again in the future.

Indian tomato & lentil soup is the best! Update: Now that I'm back on WW, I'm using this even more instead of constantly using the few recipes I tried before. Almost everything I've made in here is EASY and delicious! These are just light vegetarian recipes for those of you not on Weight Watchers. I recommend it to all vegetarians--no need to be a member of WW.

Ive never done the Weight Watcher's point, program thing (blergh) but the idea of less dishes had me completely sold. I cook for 6 people everyday. I could do without so many dishes.

The recipes are divided by pot/dish. I haven't seen a huge impact in reducing dirty dishes. I think a crockpot still holds that title. Not all recipes are pictured and I much prefer a visual so I can say to my kids, "This is what its SUPPOSED to look like. Be quiet and eat. You like raisins."

The recipes Ive tried are good and have some nice twists to traditional recipes. I haven't tried them all but so far, we have a winner regardless of my inability to follow explicit recipes. This is why I cook and rarely bake. Exact sciences and all that...

My only true complaint is the binding in hardback.

LISTEN UP Recipe Book People! Spiral or 3-ring notebook bindings are what we cooks want. Stop making cookbooks in traditional hardback or trade paper.

(See American Test Kitchen Cookbooks. They have it going on)

Cookbooks get too fat for clothes pins that ruin pages, or bindings crack when extended beyond design, pages dirty from constant touching, or instead, opting for a frou frou book stand. I'm not about to go out and buy some expensive "Good Thing" that will clutter up another counter, drawer, etc... in my kitchen. Sorry, not sorry, Martha. Spiral bindings would solve this dilemma nicely.

Overall, I wouldn't pay full price for this but I'm quite happy with the $2 thrift shop find.

I think I'll save even more time and dump this. The meals may save time, but not one of them looks edible - some of my favorite foods made a) expensively (out of convenience foods) and b) unhealthily (see previous note). I'd rather spend some more time and make healthy, good-tasting meals.

I enjoyed looking through this cookbook, which has recipes of varying lengths, many with accompanying photos. I've flagged several recipes to copy before returning the cookbook to the library.

I got this and another Weight Watchers cookbook not because I was planning on using the Weight Watchers program (which I've heard has changed a lot since this book came out) but because I wanted something that could give me meals and dishes that were, shall we say, the opposite of Paula Dean. Portion controlled, and not full of things that fill your arteries with goo. This one had the appeal of quick, easy meals that wouldn't take too much out of me to prepare on weeknights. I've only used a few of the recipes here, but for what its worth, they turned out very well. And I like the Appendix with weeks of Meal Plans.½

For my full review, a look at the recipes I tried, and photos, click HERE.

I was very impressed with the new Weight Watchers 50th Anniversary Cookbook. Cooking doesn't come easy for me, so I was pleased that the recipes were a cinch to follow with easy-to-find ingredients. The photographs of various dishes were just gorgeous - made me want to try everything.

The cookbook starts with a quick history of Weight Watchers, as well as charts on dry and liquid measurement equivalents and metric equivalents. The book ends with a PointsPlus value index, with recipes categorized by how many points they have to make meal planning easy.

The recipes themselves are broken down into eight sections:

* Breakfast All Day
* Midday Meals
* Classic Starters
* Family Entrees
* Meatless Mainstays
* Italian Favorites
* Side Stories
* Best-In-Show (Desserts)

Each recipe includes nutritional information and its PointsPlus value per serving.

I loved that the cookbook included some classic Weight Watchers favorites from past decades, like Hawaiian Mousse (1970s), Crunchy Peanut Butter Fudge (1980s), and Microwave Chickpea and Vegetable Soup (1990s).

I would recommend this cookbook to anyone looking for easy, healthy and tasty recipes, whether you're on the Weight Watchers program or not. I give it a yummy 4½-stars!

The best cookbook I own! Have tried a new recipe every night for the past two week, except the one Nacho Night, and have not been disappointed yet! The recipes are easy, quick and full of flavor. My favorite dish so far is the pasta with broccoli and goat cheese! I have even lost a couple pounds! Would recommend this to anyone.

I actually picked up this cookbook a couple of weeks ago and while I never thought I would "read" a whole cookbook, I have managed to do just that with this one. I am currently trying the recipes that I think would appeal to me and there are tons to choose from. The layout is simple and the instructions are easy to follow. You can look up things by point value (in the back), by course (table of contents), or just flip through and look at the wonderful pictures in the book. A nice collection of stories from average people and celebrities on how WW helped them to lose weight. Nothing earth shattering in it, and if you're a magazine subscriber you probably have heard most of these stories before. Still nice to see that people have succeeded on the path I started in March.

Yes, I know this is a diet book. But forget that. This cookbook is also the only one I've ever tried with a pad thai recipe that comes anything close to restaurant pad thai as I know it. And there are other recipes in it that are well worth investigating too.
