Pebbles the Butterfly loves to count. One day, he sets out to travel around the world to find the biggest number. On his travels, he meets tons of friends, and experiences all kinds of crazy weather. What’s the biggest number Pebbles can find?

This is such a wonderful children’s book about the fun and excitement of numbers. As a kid (and still as an adult honestly), I love learning random facts and this book is full of them as we follow along with Pebbles’ travels, including Number Note, where you see how many zeros are in a number, Did You Know?, where there’s fun facts about something on the current page(s), and Science Spots, with interesting science facts.

I can see a wide range of children enjoying this book due to the amazing and bright illustrations done by Laura Watson. I can see the ones reading the book to the children would also have a fun time reading because of all the little facts and tidbits within the story. There’s even a spot where it prompts the child to ask an adult what the biggest number they know is.

This is cute and adorable and I can’t wait to share the fun facts that I learn from it.

*Thank you Joey Benun for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review

This was a really fun book. It can be read in multiple ways. When one needs a quick fun story, they can read the tale of the butterfly looking for the largest number. When they need to know about big numbers, there are info bits about that, and there are info bits about other things of note such as life of a butterfly, or volts of electricity in a lightbulb. Overall, this book works on many levels that kids will find fun.

I reviewed this book for Library Thing.

Well written & I liked the illustrations.

Educational & fun. Could be good for younger children to be read to and then read on their own - Primary School level.

It is printed in America, so it does have US spellings! But still good for UK.

What an adorable book! Not only will you meet Pebbles and go a journey with her to the desert, rain forest, the sea, all the wonderful discoveries of the earth, you will learn all about the creatures Pebbles meets. You will learn how many zeroes are in a nonillion. Their are many interesting facts for the children to learn about also. I really enjoy this book! We will be learning more about words and digging deeper for numbers.

Wow! This book is adorable. I love that it isn't just fluff. The book is educational and keeps kids engaged. Not only does it give interesting biology facts, but it also covers math concepts. A definite must for the classroom! It includes lots of neat fact blurbs at the end. The packaging was adorable, and how fun is it that it came with stickers and a bookmark?!

I feel that this book has a bit too much in it. The "Science Spot" and "Did You Know" bubbles make the book crowded with text and distracts from the purpose. They are, however, very interesting facts. It would be great if this were two books instead of one. Dispite the crowdedness, the book has lovely pictures and a great explanation of place value.

PEBBLES and the BIGGEST NUMBERS
Written by Joey Benun
Illustrated by Laura Watson

I was given this book in exchange for an honest review. The book follows Pebbles, a butterfly, on his quest to find the biggest number. Along the way Pebbles interacts with multiple creatures in their habitats asking each, “What is the biggest number you know?”
Each creature Pebbles interacts with is introduced in their habitat. The pages contain side notes such as Fun Fact, Did you Know, Science Spots and Number Notes each giving additional information. Pebbles travels through different habitats including the desert, ocean, rainforest and mountains. Along the way he navigates an earthquake, tsunami and avalanche. Side notes provide information on each of these natural disasters.
This book will be enjoyed by children and adults. The illustrations are colorful and provide information on the creature and their habitat. Very young readers will enjoy the basic story line and illustrations. They will be introduced to the very large numbers and as they get older will comprehend more of the information provided. At the end of the book, there are several pages titled “Dig Deeper” giving definitions for words that are used in the book and the numbers introduced with a reference to help comprehend that number.
I don’t usually learn much from reading a children’s book but I definitely did with Pebbles and the Biggest Number. There were numbers introduced of which I was unaware. I also appreciated the references in the book. I visited the web site https://www.biggestnumber.com/resources/ and found much more information and activities for children, parents and teachers.
My book was delivered wrapped in paper with the same print used in the front and back inside covers of the book and included a sheet of stickers and a bookmark with the creatures shown in the book as well as a note from Joey Benun. I really enjoyed this book and can see how a child will love the book at an early age but continue to enjoy it and learn as they grow and comprehend more of the science and numbers. I heartily recommend this book.

Wow! This beautiful hardcover picture book arrived with matching wrapping paper, a bookmark, a sheet about the collaborators, and some stickers! And a hand-written thank you note😊 Very nicely done, Joey Benun. This is an appealing book about a butterfly named Pebbles who is trying to figure out the biggest number. Pebbles travels all over to meet animals and a scientist and learns a lot. This book is jam packed with math information and plenty of science facts. The illustrations are great, and there's a glossary of words included. A good choice for children ready to learn about large numbers in nature and even infinity.

Every once in a while, it's nice to read a book certainly not meant for my age group. With Pebbles and the Biggest Number by Joey Benun, I hit the jackpot. As little readers follow Pebbles, a butterfly, looking for the biggest number, they are introduced to a variety of animals and locations around the world, the trivia is fun to learn. The illustrations by Laura Watson fit perfectly within the story.

When I was 6 or 7, I would have read this book a hundred times. I was always fascinated with numbers and science, so everything Joey Benun put in Pebbles and the Biggest Number was like stepping back a few decades to be a kid again. The fact that there were meteorological facts within the all the other science was the topping on the cake. I even learned things I didn’t know, like how many grains of sand it would take to cover New York to a depth of three mattresses.

An enchanting STEM children's book, this work focuses on numbers but ties in a variety of science fields. Includes loveable and colorful illustrations throughout. Best for young readers (or those that read to this age group), although fun for any audience. The storyarc and little factoids can be read together or separately without any confusion, although I preferred to read the story along with the extras. The intro to the layout near the beginning and the glossary and sand grain comparisons at the end help this book stand out among others that fall into the same genre.

I received a copy of this book thru a LibraryThing Giveaway. My first impressions - love the bright & colorful illustrations and the concept of teaching number relationships. Per one source this book is for 5-9 year olds. The younger children would enjoy the story of Pebbles the Butterfly and her visit to many locations around the world. As the child aged they would become more familiar with the math concepts introduced to understand the "biggest numbers".

I won a copy of this book.

Pebbles, the butterfly, wants to know what the largest number is! He travels the world, asking animals from all biomes what the biggest number is that they know. Each full spread picture is very interesting to look at and has other fun facts about where Pebbles is and who he is chatting with.

The drawings are very appropriate for this book. They convey exactly what the text is saying. They're perfect and brightly colored to grab attention for all who are reading or listening.

If reading alone, your little will find fun facts on each page that will hopefully get them thinking and ask questiong. Prepare for the Infinity conversation.

The back of the book has new word that were introduced in the story. There is also a number chart with each number encountered in the story.
