Civility is a big issue on campuses these days and I was looking for a way to incorporate it into my classes and my job as an administrator. Our Freshman reading program was Forni's Choosing Civility which I found a little tedious ( as did many of my students). I came across this one and liked it because it less intimidating than the Forni' book both in size and structure. While this may seem like common sense to some people, there are many more to whom it is not. This was one of the chief complaints I heard about from my students about the subject, yet the roommate and class disruption issues continued to persist. Also there is something about the campus environment come October seems to make people forget.

The book is written in very easy down to earth language and is very current which I think makes it relevant to the millennial s. The case studies were also very accurate and descriptive.

Overall, from an administrator who consistently deals with conduct and other uncivil behaviors on campus I think this book can be a solid starting point for initiating discussion and ideas with students.
