Overall I really enjoyed this book because of how well written it was. It teaches students about different kinds of feet for example flippers, claws and paws and what animals have how many feet. The sentences are clear and concise. The illustrations of different types of feet help the reader visualize what the author is talking about. The book just shows the feet which lets the reader guess what animal the feet may belong to and then turn to the back of the book to see the animal. This is very enjoyable and fun for the reader. The book also includes a featured creatures page which has information on all animals. all of these characteristics make this a great book for children.… (meer)

I liked this book for a couple of reasons. One reason is because each page was a different color background, with a different animal to go along with the descriptions. Also, the pages had some bold letters, which were the types of hair. For example, the words “silky” and “prickles” on the page were bolded so that readers knew that was the type of hair being talked about. I also liked the illustrations in the book because the pictures were big and close up enough that you could see the type of hair of each animal. Lastly, I liked this book because of the “featured creatures” section in the back of the book. This section talked about the different animals they showed throughout the book and under the picture it says what type of animal it is, where it lives, what it eats, and an interesting fact. The message of the book is to provide information about the different types of hair in the world.… (meer)

I really liked the book “Feet” by Nicola Whittaker. This is an informational book that could be used to introduce characteristics of different animals to young children. The main message of this book is to inform the reader of different types of feet, different uses for feet, and the number of feet that specific animals might have. I like that the sentences are clear, concise, and to-the-point. I think that the illustrations were great because they were actual photographs of all of the animals that were discussed. I think that children would find this very interesting. At the end of the book, there is a “Featured Creatures” section that provides more in-depth information on each of the animals in the book such as where they live and what they eat. I would definitely use this book in my classroom to introduce a unit on animals.… (meer)

I liked this book for many reasons. One thing that I really liked about this book were the pictures. I like how the author used real photographs rather than illustrations of the different animal's feet. I thought that it enhanced the story by making it more interesting and unique! I also really enjoyed the writing and other text features in this story. The writing flowed very nicely. It was repetitive which made it easy to predict. For example, these are the lines from pages 7-10: "Some have flippers." "Some have paws." "Some have toes." Each of these pages begin with "some have" and the reader can predict the next word by simply looking at the picture. I also really liked that the author incorporated some rhyming into the writing. For example, on pages 16-19 it says, "Some have eight feet." "Some have more!" I thought that the author's use of rhyming made the story flow smoothly and ultimately made it pleasing to read! I also really like that the text font in the story is very large, taking up the entire page even though there aren't many words! I also liked the authors placement of certain words and her use of bolding them. The main characteristic being talked about on each page, such as claws, big, and hop, are bolded. This draws the readers eyes to the word and makes it clear that it is the most important word on the page! The author also placed certain words on different areas of the page based on their meaning. For example, on the page with the mouse, "Some feet are" is written at the top of the page and the word "small" is written at the bottom. The author also did this with the word "hop" by letting the word float in the middle of the page, under the leaping frog. I thought that this enhanced the story by showing the meaning of the word simply through its placement on the page. I believe that the message in this story is that different creatures have different size feet, number of feet, and use for their feet!… (meer)
