Wolf's book has good advice and information about the production, purchase, consumption, and storage of cheeses, but lacks much content about the cheeses themselves. Instead, this book is a set of profiles with biographic information- organized by region- of cheesemakers. Is it a directory? Is it a cook book? Is it a memoir? Is it a travelogue? Is it a reference tool?
This book would have benefitted from more careful and focused editing. Most of the information in the profiles can be readily found on the Websites of the cheesemakers.
In the current form, it would have been better as a magazine article, or series in a magazine.… (meer)
