H.A. Wrenn

H.A.Wrenn was the Headmaster of Wellingborough Grammer School in the 1950's. He resigned to devote his time to write a series of crime novels of which 'The Toby Jug Murders' is one.
William Mitchell, who is the junior partner of a law firm is the hero of "The Toby Jug Murders' and is the sleuth who follows through on the crime. The head of a large import/export firm who are important clients of Mitchell's firm is seen doing strange mad things in the area,and is eventually put into the local care home. His business is in trouble and his wife intends to divorce him. Mitchell tries to sort things out and in visiting the firm,fall for the secretary and thumps the manager. In a local night-club a mysterious masked singer performs and adds yet another thread to the strange goings-on.
Quite a witty tale from an author who is undeservedly neglected and largely unread these days.… (meer)
