The Bodil and Jørgen Munch-Christensen Debutant Prize was founded in 2005 and is awarded annually.




Bodil (1919-2001) and Jørgen Munch-Christensen (1918-2004) ran a bookshop in Vejle from 1947 to toon meer 1998 and an antiquarian bookshop from 1982 to 2004. The antiquarian bookshop was legendary and known by writers and other literary enthusiasts from all over the country. Jørgen Munch-Christensen was the main man behind the establishment of the Vejle Literature Association in 1941. The association was a great success, reaching 1000 members and could gather up to 700 listeners for the literary events.




Jørgen Munch-Christensen was active in the resistance movement and has described it in the book Underground in Vejle: The Occupation and the Surrender. In addition, he has published his memoirs in the book Blandt brave borgere i Vejle and is portrayed in the book Boghandleren: Jørgen Munch-Christensen 1918-2004, written by Poul Porskær Poulsen.




The prize is awarded annually to two authors under the age of 50, each receiving DKK 50,000, making it one of the largest debut author prizes in Denmark. toon minder
