Freedom Reads, the National Book Foundation, and the Center for Justice Innovation launched the Inside Literary Prize in 2023. The prize will be first awarded in June 2024 to one exceptional book toon meer by a jury of 300 incarcerated individuals from a dozen prisons across the nation.
The books to be considered for the prize are determined by a Selection Committee comprising incarcerated readers, writers, and Departments of Corrections librarians, who chose four books from the list of Finalists for the two years earlier National Book Awards, as the books must be in paperback to be used in prisons. toon minder
