Mali, 2010: In the remote reaches of the Sahara, disparate groups of Islamic fundamentalists affiliated with Al-Qaeda have stealthily taken root.

When a famed geologist toiling away at a remote exploration camp near Timbuktu finds the motherlode of a fantastic gold deposit, he’s struck with disaster. His compound is raided and in the ensuing confusion, Ayesha, his beautiful wife, is abducted.

Enters Jake Hall, a young, rising executive with another mining company also active in Mali. He’s set to visit the camp to assess the scope of the discovery.

The attack sets in motion a chain of events that catapults both Hall and Ayesha into captivity where their courage and inner reserves are stretched to the limit.
