"Life of Pie", inspired by Yann Martel's "Life of Pi." What sort of pie do you make to pay homage to the tale of an Indian boy, named after a French swimming pool, who travels aboard a Japanese ship on his way to French Canada and winds up on a lifeboat in the middle of an ocean with only a Bengal tiger for company? A 'PondiCHERRY' pie of course: cherry pie filling seasoned with a Bengal spice blend of cinnamon, ginger, and cardamom and a healthy measure of maple syrup from Quebec. Richard Parker was hand painted with egg wash and food coloring and the flying fish were made from pastry cuttings, egg wash, and colored sugar sprinkles.
