- Over mijn bibliotheek
- My library consists of books in four formats: 1) traditional bound books with my preference being hardcover for longevity, 2) bound reprints of out-of-print books, mainly from Higginsonbooks.com, 3) PDF books on CD, and 4) relevant excerpts of historical books online kept in binders in my library.
The books I read would fall into the categories of American History, Colonial law, regional and local history, biography, cultural anthropology, historical fiction, published genealogies and collections of vital records. - Over mij
- I am a part-time genealogist and family archivist with a diverse cultural background.
My family archive includes the records of maternal ancestors who had traced our roots to fourteen Mayflower ancestors through 27 lines of ancestry. Included are records for membership applications into the Sons of the American Revolution (SAR). The records of paternal ancestors include founders and descendants of Connecticut, Massachusetts, New York and Kansas towns.
My specialty, however, is in the African-American ancestors of my husband's family who migrated as Free Persons of Color in the 18th Century from Accamack and Northampton Counties, Virginia to Craven County, North Carolina.
Below is a list of some of my accomplishments.
• July 2009: Presented the display and commentary entitled, Double Cousins in Geographically Isolated Areas, at the 2009 George Family Reunion, North Harlowe, NC.
• July 2008: Elected Charles Spencer Livingston Branch Historian, Co-Branch Coordinator, Prince Livingston Family Reunion Committee.
• May 2008: Applied for National Endowment for the Humanities Independent Scholar Fellowship: Migration and Settlement Patterns of Free Negroes in Colonial America, Part I: The Southern Colonies, 1728-1790.
• July 2007: Presented The Land Deeds of Theophilus George, father of Emanuel, James Bland, Nathaniel, Martha Ann, and Nancy George, at the 2007 George Family Reunion, North Harlowe, NC.
• May 2007: Applied for National Endowment for the Humanities Independent Scholar Fellowship: The Descendants of peter George Negro and Paull Carter & wife: the enslavement, emancipation, and migration of two families from Accomack County, Virginia to Craven County, North Carolina, 1640-1958.
• 2004-2007: Researched and compiled an exhaustive archive: The Descendants of Capt. John King, a founder of Northampton, Massachusetts.
• Since 2004: Served as Co-Historian, George Family Reunion Committee.
• Since 2002: Conducted genealogical and historical research according to genealogical proof and historical evidence standards. - Woonplaats
