New Zealand writer, Kathy White has had 13 children's books published, as well as more than 100 articles, short stories and plays. She has been given a grant by Creative New Zealand to attend Iowa University's International Writing Program for the Fall Residency 2009. She intends to write a book about a boy who goes to live on the west coast of New Zealand and experiences first-hand the devastating effects of 1080 poison on wildlife.The name Ramona Punzel comes from the name of a character in an earlier book, called A Hairy Tale.
