This is by far THE BEST book I've read from Langley. The first was ok, the second was great but the third was so well balanced I didn't feel out of step at all. She ultimately did Jake and remi justice I would say even better than chat and Keaton but that's just me. And it wasn't just sex! The plot line was so nice and intricate that I truly felt the bond between those too and just the trust also. I didn't like that remi became totally submissive but was glad he had the balls to really stand up to Jake at times.

Beautiful book ( )

It turns out my library actually has a small selection of paperback M/M titles and this was one of them and I thought, oh, isn't this author one of the ones the M/M group raves about? So I decided to read it, despite it being the 3rd of a series (actually, it wasn't that hard to get what was going on, since each book seems to focus on a different couple) and well, it was just ok. I think the problem is that if you put aside the sex scenes (of which there were a lot, and were really boring, repetitive... I basically skipped all of them), the plot was not all that interesting.

The conflict between the main characters was resolved a little too easily, especially when one of the two was apparently very homophobic in the previous book. I also don't get why he's immediately so submissive to the other one (especially since he was abused before). The author explains this as a werewolf thing, but her werewolf mythology isn't really developed well and she seems to use it to her convenience in order to explain stuff that she can't find other explanations for. I also get the sense that she probably hasn't researched that much about actual wolves.

I ended up trying to read the previous two in the series, and found them rather cringe-inducing. I don't think this series is for me.

On a positive note, though, I did like how the two brothers cared so much about each other and looked out for each other. It was very sweet and their relationship was a lot more fun and interesting than the actual couple! ( )

Remington Lassiter is still adjusting to his new upside-down world. Overnight, he went from not knowing werewolves existed and that his best friend was one to being one himself. At the same time, Remi finds himself trying to do all he can to protect his younger brother from their abusive father. But Remi also carries some deeply-rooted secrets that he doesn't even realize are hidden in his past. They will need to be confronted before he can truly be free. And then there's the attractive and mysterious private detective, Jake Romero, who keeps popping up to help Remi out whenever he needs it. And Jake has his own bombshell to drop on Remi when the time is right...

The character development in this one is pretty solid. Each of these guys is a distinct character with complex backstories that come to bear on who they are and what they do. It's hard not to feel for Remi at so many points while reading, but I appreciate that he has moments where he can find his strength and try to move things forward at the same time. I also appreciate that the author didn't rush the relationship here, knowing full well that Remi has other things to deal with on top of confronting the possibility of being in a relationship with a guy. An interesting read, though there are some unpleasant moments in the lives of these characters.

This werewolf romance series by Langley gets better with each offering! In "Without Reservations," we met Chay's slightly homophobic friend, Remi. He was made a werewolf by Jake, who is also his mate but hesitant to reveal the fact. But, the real reason behind Remi's attitude is heartbreaking and shocking. Physical abuse from his father was hinted at in the previous installment, but now the truth is fully revealed.

This book does stand alone, but a reader will benefit from reading the previous ones. While I really enjoyed the last one, this book has more depth and much richer character development, especially in Remi. He is flawed, loving, vulnerable and in need of someone to care for him for a change. Jake is that person, but first they both must deal with the very real danger Remi's brother Sterling is in from their abusive father, Dirk. In their efforts to find evidence against Dirk so they can take Sterling away, Jake and Remi uncover a mystery revolving around an incident when Remi was a teen. And incident so horrifying, Remi's mind completely blocked it out - except for the dream he keeps having. There is a lot of action regarding the mystery, and plenty of Langley's trademark hot sex. Langley also expands on her werewolf mythos, with new insight into alpha and omega status within the pack. This was hinted at in the first short story, "With Love." There is a lot to enjoy here in addition to the romance.

My only disappointment with this novel, and it was a small one, was the very predictable storyline with Sterling. Warning, small SPOILER:

Sterling is beaten nearly to death and is saved by being made a werewolf by his mate. This is exactly what happened to Remi in the last book in order to segue into his story! So, the next book will likely be Sterling's romance. However, this was a minor hitch and doesn't make me want to read Sterling's story any less. I just wish it had been done differently, maybe as a choice this time. Langley did throw in a great surprise concerning Sterling that should make the next book more interesting.

Overall, this was a wonderful paranormal M/M romance.Highly recommended! ( )

I read these out of order, but it had no effect on my understanding of the plot. Of the three books in this series, this was my favorite.

The only thing that bothered me was the huge personality change of Remi from book 1 to 2. While it is explained, it felt like the author decided to make a character change mid-stream. ( )

This is by far my favorite JL Langley book. The dynamics between Jake and Remi is just perfect. The love and caring that they express for each other is just so real. I couldn't put it down the first time that I read the story and now I think I have read the book four times since I first bought it. ( )

"With Caution" by J.L. Langley is a male/male love story with all the emotion and caring any romance lover enjoys and the added bonus of uber-hot monogamous sex.

Remi has a gut-wrenching past. The only light in his life is his younger brother Sterling and Remi has had to cut deal after deal with his abusive father to keep Sterling safe, but that's just what Remi does. So what can newly made werewolf Remi do when he discovers his mate...is a man. If his homophobic father finds out, well...there's no telling what he'd do.

Jake has known Remi was his mate from their first encounter. Now that he's finally gotten closer to Remi, he has no intention of backing away. But with Remi's current problems and abused past, how can Jake expect Remi to be comfortable as his sub?

There's so much more going on in this story than is possible to provide in brief blurbs. J.L. Langley has written a story that overflows with love and caring and the compromises that are required in building a lasting relationship. There's action, suspense, hot sex, humor, and a fabulous happily-ever-after that will have you searching out more stories by this author. ( )

A J.L. Langley's book is a sure reading. You will find a good story, hot sex, a lot of humor and romance for your heart. Yesterday I bought three books, but when I had to choose from what book start my reading, I had no doubt: J.L. Langely will not deceive me

With Caution is the third in the With or Without series, even if it is strict connected only with Without Reservation. Remi was turned in werewolf by Jake in the first enstallment in the series, and he has now to learn how to live like a werewolf and in a pack. In the Chay and Keaton's story, Remi had expressed a lot of doubts and a lit of homophobic behaviour, and so when Jake had turned him and discovered that Remi was his mate, he was worried that Remi couldn't accept it.

But Remi is very attracted from Jake, all in Jake appeals him, scent, body and mind. Even the protective attitude of Jake is something that Remi finds reassuring and for the first time he thinks to be able to share with someone else his problems. Remi is out from an abusive father who now treats Remi's brother, Sterling, who is only 14 years old.

Remi is a brave character, but he has not the force to face his father's brutality alone. He is for attitude and nature, a submissive: he needs the help, but over all the added force of his mate, Jake. And Jake is an alpha male, and a dominant character both in life then in sex. So he is the right mate for Remi.

I have the strong feeling that Remi's character is changed a lot from the previous enstallment. In Without Reservation he is an interesting supporting character, but apart the physical beauty and a cocky attitude, no more else gave you the real impression of him. Instead he is a complex character, with a secret past which is a real twist in the actual story (no want to give off the story, so no hints on it).

As always the sex is a main aspect of the story and a strong point of force of it. It's masterly written, very arousing but not crude: J.L. Langley has the ability to get you excited (yes for real) without being graphic. Reading her sex scenes you have not the feeling to read an 'hot to do' guide, and despite it, you are reading a good and explicit sex scene.

Like in the other books in the series, the family (in the case of werewolf, the pack) is a main value: old good feelings and the idea that you are stronger if you lean on your pack. And they are also a great source for other stories in the series (I will look forward for Sterling and Rhys's story, and who will be Matt's mate?)

With Caution is a long book (in the ebook's criteria), more than 200 pages, but sure when you will arrive to the epilogue, you'd like to have more.

A very enjoyable read--great characters carried over from her last book-good plot, and drama abounds in this werewolf story filled once again, with hot sex--can't wait for a follow-up. Love the characters. ( )

I love the warning on the Samhain Site … Warning, this title contains the following: explicit sex, graphic language, violence, hot nekkid man-love. What more could you want in some m/m fiction?

You first meet the somewhat unenlightened Remi in Without Reservations. He is angry and angsty and not at all impressed with his best friend Chay’s choice in partner. After being turned into a werewolf in this 1st book he is working on being the best were he can be and look out for his younger brother. The relationship between Remi and his brother Sterling is central to the book and a lot of Remi’s motivations and decisions revolve around being there for the younger sibling. He is such a great character always making sure Sterling has somewhere safe to go and be away from their abusive father. Under all that front is a sweet guy. There is also a mystery that unfolds involving Remi’s past. I think if I had read Without Reservations 1st I would have perhaps not warmed up to Remi as quick as I did. He is cocky and has this veneer of bravado but he is also very sweet and loving. One of my favourite characters.

Jake is just sex on a stick as far as I am concerned. He is hot, a PI and has a serious jones for Remi who is finding being a werewolf and attracted to another man all a bit confusing. Jake protective, loving and super Alpha. He also has a motorbike AND a leather jacket. Which I kinda liked as I spent most of my 3rd year of high school drooling over the guy in front of me with the leather jacket. Merroow. Jake is a total top and there is just a wee bit of BDSM and much smex.

I really liked this book and also the others in the series. Probably a good idea to read them in order, or if you’re a rebel like me pay no attention to order whatsoever and be totally taken in by a nice cover! Very groovy reading from one of my favorite authors. You can get them all at the Samain site.

PS Love the chaps, they are a total hot flush scene!
