Lot of stuff in here. And I mean that in the most understated way. I had to keep setting it aside, because although I generally like Peters's ADD scattershot Emeril Bam! style, this book got tiring...often.

His four other DK subsets of this are more digestible. Still good stuff in here though. In measured doses. ( )

More than just a how-to book for the 21st Century, Re-imagine! is a call to arms -- a passionate wake-up call for the business world, educators, and society as a whole. Focusing on how the business climate has changed, this inspirational book outlines how the new world of business works, explores radical ways of overcoming outdated, traditional company values, and embraces an aggressive strategy that empowers talent and brand-driven organizations where everyone has a voice. I feel this is a good read. Provides some very good insight. Some very good golden nuggets to take from. Inspiring. I recommend. ( )

This is not quite a coffee table book, but it is probably more at home there than sandwiched on the shelf between other business titles.
It’s clear that Tom Peters wants the book to stand out from the crowd.

If you have small children you’ve probably encountered the publisher Dorling Kindersley through their children’s books packed with high gloss colour pictures and eye catching page layouts. These are the hallmarks of this book, and in the main it is certainly pleasing to the eye. The result is a book to browse rather than read, to dip into rather than work through. This is no bad thing at all.

If you’ve seen Tom Peters speak or have read any of his other books I suggest that in the thrust of this book there is little new. That’s not to say that the pictures, quotations and side stories won’t add to your understanding of Peter’s message; the core of which is a campaign that a new world demands new re-imagined approach to business.

If you’ve not familiar with his work then this book is a rich introduction to his rants and his passions. I suspect that his style will not suit everyone. He states that he writes motivated by anger, and sometimes this can obscure some of the points he makes, but there is little doubting his passion. As you leaf through its pages you’ll probably find yourself agreeing or disagreeing, but strongly, and this is precisely his aim.

In summary a book whose style is in marked contrast to most of the business titles around and as a result may spend less time trapped on the shelf. If you’ve not met Peter’s work, this is your Technicolor opportunity to catch up. ( )

The Tom Paine of the Coming Revolution

This book models chaos. The material, if you are a Tom Peters fan, is not new. The book’s design and lay-out, however, models today’s business environment. It is unpredictable and chaotic.

Each page bombards the reader with visual stimuli. Multiple type faces, italics, cap strings, colors, type sizes, sidebars, background images. The first few chapters drove me crazy. I may talk a great line on the subject of chaos, but this was not what a dedicated, old-fashioned book reader had grown comfortable with.

That is the point and Tom Peters is to be complimented for it. With Re-imagine! he challenges the art of book design. It underscores his message. I believe we are on the threshold of an economic revolution. My only hope is that that I will have the energy to participate when it finally erupts.

In the meantime, Tom Peters will remain the Tom Paine pamphleteer of it. Unlike Tom Paine, he employs all the tools at his command to preach his message. ( )
