Bezig met laden... Marvel Knights Daredevil #9: King of Hell's Kitchen (editie 2006)door Brian Michael Bendis, Alex Maleev (Illustrator)Wow. Another volume filled with endless dialogue and not very much else. The first two issues barely move the story forward and the major fight between DD and the Yakuza in the second issue is kind of ruined by Ben Urich's babbling and Maleev's confusing art style. There's a lengthy and wholly confusing scene between Matt, Peter Parker, Luke Cage, Dr. Strange and Reed Richard's as well. Once we get some explanations and revelations into why Matt has been acting the way he has the story turns a whole lot more interesting. The final issue is a wonderful ending to the story, featuring a great fight scene. Overall, a bit too slow and word-heavy volume for me. Almost a year after Daredevil has declared himself ruler of Hell's Kitchen, Luke Cage, Peter Parker, Stephen Strange and Reed Richards confront him in an intervention, to which he reacts angrily. Then Matt faces and defeats a large-scale attack from the Chinese Yakuza, goes into hiding to recover, and later teams up with Luke Cage, Spider-Man and Iron Fist against the Yakuza. After he returns to Milla, to whom he is now married, she asks him if Foggy is correct that he married her in reaction to the death of Karen Page. He replies that he doesn't know, and she leaves him. The Daredevil title has become one of the more daring and sophisticated storylines around. The artwork is pretty good, too, once you get used to it. |
