Mack is your average 12-year-old. In fact, he embodies all aspects of “average”. However, one day at school, he is approached by an old man who tells him he is one of the Magnificent 12. Mack has to find the other eleven members and fight the evil Pale Queen. Thus begins his journey.
This is the first book in a series (the second book releases this August), and I think it does the job of leaving the reader wanting more. This book would be a hit with children – it’s fast-paced, easy to read, and the characters seem true-to-life. Many children will be able to identify with Mack’s “mediumness”, and will want to continue reading. This book is funny and well written and will entice even hesitant readers to enjoyment.
