The Purple Smurfs by Peyo (2010)
This graphic novel houses three smurf tales. The first tale is The Purple Smurfs and it is about a smurf that goes out "smurfing" and gets bitten by a bzz bug. Once bitten by the bug the smurf turns purple and begins biting other smurfs and they turn purple. Once purple they all try to bite other smurfs. Papa Smurf works diligently to find a cure before all the smurfs turn purple. The second story is about a smurf that wants to learn to fly and all the different antics he tries. The third story is about a smurf that lives next to Lazy Smurf and he can't get any rest because of his snoring so he moves to the forest. Only once he lives in the forest all the animal noises keep him awake so he moves back to town and invests in earplugs.
With the movie coming out soon, I would recommend this novel to anyone interested in the smurfs. I would recommend this for children to read that are ages 8 and up but, could easily be enjoyed by younger children if a parent was reading it with them.
