While we were out looking at antiques this weekend I came across an antique shop that had a large selection of books from the 18th century to modern publications. Pretty much all genres, but they had some complete sets of poets, historians, etc. I picked up a title or two, but would really like to go back when I have more time... The place is August Antiques on Heights Blvd. I took some photos that I've uploaded to my profile.

Has anyone else in the group discovered an "out of the way" place to buy interesting used books around the Houston area?

Thanks for the tip on August Antiques. I just visited today, and they have some very interesting items throughout the store, including rare titles, barrister bookcases, bookends, library ladders, and the largest collection of book presses I've seen anywhere.

The only drawback is that they seem to have the typical antique store attitude for pricing books. Everything I saw was marked at the upper end of retail prices or higher, regardless of condition issues. On the plus side, he did knock 20% off the one book I purchased.

Thanks for posting the info about August Antigues. I don't get out shopping often but I've put this on my list to check out.
