I don;ʻt know how to make links, but

Iʻm trying the "post a New Topic" function:

Don't wear this or PETA will throw paint on you. (Although they hardly ever throw paint on big tattooed bikies in leather jackets!)

"NOT" list: demure

On 2: "Dont' wear this . . ."

"wearing" the Crambo! Word is possible (accidentally) but not probable. I still don't
know what the guess is.

THis is where I miss the old-fashioned "Thesaurus"
where you could look up
associated words,
e.g. a word "something like" "perfume", but not really a synonym of it. The new ones are little more than dictionaries of

Since Roland's a classical guy,
"It follows" this word's worth a try.
This Latin deponent
And phrasal component
Might hint that a topic's awry.

NOT List: demure, myrrh, non* sequitur

*"sequitur": should this be alphabetized under S or N? Itʻs probably not English, except as part
of the phrase (see "phrasal component" (11) ) "non sequitur", so Iʻm adding it as
a whole phrase/

I collect "non sequiturs", b t w, so if you know any "good" ones, please pass them along.

Could it be that Crambo is the ideal place for a risky businessman to make a big splash?

28rolandperkins
aug 27, 2012, 5:02 pm

Crambo! could be the ideal place for a risky businessman to make a big splash, for all I know. All that came to mind
was "Splash>whirr" -- not really very close; and the non-existent "splur" came to mind. (Itʻs realy "splurGE".)

29Citizenjoyce

The guess involved the businesman who takes risks.

30rolandperkins
Bewerkt: aug 27, 2012, 6:50 pm

I'll risk saying that 27 is "entrepreneur" -- some kind
of " -eur", anyway. I'm not a capitalist,* but I
had thought that the "Entrpren-" kind
was more respectable than the mere risk-takeur.
The Crambo! Word. b t w, cannot end in -er, (hint in 18)
AND
does not necessarily end in - eUr.

Not List: blur, brochure, chauffeur. demure, entrepreneur. liqueur.
myrrh, non sequitur

*In fact, the Crambo!word (though not with
it's common-noun meaning, is also the title of

"Sinecure" comes from Latin

"Cura" better describes whatʻs laid on

#2 was 'fur', 21 was 'purr' (with a reprise of 'fur'). Both found in AA Milne's poem "Pinkle Purr", which starts...
Tattoo was the mother of Pinkle Purr,
A little black nothing of feet and fur;
And by and by, when his eyes came through,
He saw his mother, the big Tattoo.
And all that he learned he learned from her,
"I'll ask my mother," says Pinkle Purr.

#48 was 'douceur'.
